metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 I'll accept an 89 win season , should be good f or the WC at least.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 What's the deal with all this Hernandez stuff. Does this guy have any chance here?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Howie or Waynie was telling me that the Mets failed to take Wilson Valdez seriously as a candidate to bring back after his fill-in work for them last season. And now he's become an "important part" of the Phillies. And the Mets might do well to take Hernandez's candidacy more seriously.Take that as you will. On one hand, a few key plays/hits against the Mets notwithstanding, Valdez hasn't done as well as all that. On the other hand, Hernandez has shown some good work on defense this week. Now ask me about Duda.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Duda!Whatever happened to Jason Bay? The dingo atecha Bay-bee.

Valdez may not be doing _that_ greatly, but I do recall him having a few decent games while Utley was out.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 So Edgy, how about that Lucas Duda?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 RE: Duda. I like double switch duty for September guys. Duda is going to have live the rest of his life staring at HISTORICALLY LOW slash stats for his first season.

I hope it catches on! Will probably result in more singles for left-handed hitters, but fewer extra base hits for right-handed hitters. Since there are more righties, it might end up resulting in fewer total bases yielded.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Yeah, sure. But I think the answer is Jerry has himself a doghouse* and he's gonna use it.*Jerry Manuel Presents the Ramon Castro Memorial Doghouse of Jerry Manuel.

Hernandez is playing 2B.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2010 Author Posted September 13, 2010 On further review it appears the Mets lineup on Twitter was posted only 15 minutes ago meaning they deleted a previous tweet that I copied for this post. I blame the LCAO.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Howie says that Jerry says he "knows what Hernandez is," but nonetheless has been starting him everyday since Tejada sprained his wrist, expecially since the Mets'll face lefties the next two days.In other words, Castillo is deep in the doghouse.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 In other news, Jerry's a bleeding idiot. I'm sure nobody is watching but he just asked Reyes to sacrifice the pitcher to 3rd base with predictable results.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Be careful what you wish for --- he just let Duda hit.Double switch an both Felicianos come in. Scoreless tie after seven.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Jerry just made a double switch to (1) move the pitcher's spot back exactly one slot in the batting order and (2) insert Tejada into the game. How do I find this Jerry? I must speak with him.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Three-four-five up in the bottom of the ninth.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Someone just got a game-winning hit.
