1) He's from Cleburn, Texas, hometown of Spike Owen. Father is Kevin Gee. Mom is Kelly Gee.

2) Dillon joins the Bobby Parnell contingent of Mets pitchers and prospects successfully scouted, signed, and developed despite lackluster amateur statisttics --- having gone 15-25 and a 5.16 ERA at University of Texas at Arlington.

3) Was named Pitcher of the Year in the 2008 Puerto Rican Winter League. Ian Kennedy was supposed to be the big shot that year.

4) Remember those two dry-run exhibitions to open Citifield before they opened Citifield? Dillon pitched in one of those.

5) Gee was perhaps ahead of Jon Niese at the start of 2009, but tore his labrum in May.

6) Dillon led all of AAA in strikeouts this season. He in fact set a new Buffalo Bisons record.

7) He was named Buffalo's comeback player of the year.

8) If all goes as expected, tonight's game will surprisingly mark the first time in Mets history that the team has both thrown and opposed a starting pitcher making a debut. Going for the Nats: Ynesky Maya.

9) Up until he stopped updating in 2008, Dillon was on a one-man quest to show you the world through his eyes at http://www.dillongee.com/.

10) Flashes the leather (special guest appearance by Ruben Tejada) here:

When I heard the game during which he set the record, the announcers took care to say it was a modern Buffalo record.
And that is what I posted here (in one of our threads about the Bisons) when he did that.

I just did some checking. Buffalo was not in the International League from 1971-1997.
This year, Gee finished with 165 Ks.
But in 1968, a lefty named Steve Jones struck out 184 batters.

I didn't go back any farther than that.

11) Lousy with virginity?

Funny, Mom and Dad are both "K"s... he's like a Bizarro Clemens.

Kevin and Kelly Gee join son Dillon as he signs his letter of intent to attend Texas-Arlington. Asked what made him choose the Jackets, Dillon responded, "I was looking for a state-of-the-art program; I got one look at coach's office with the real wood verneer paneling and the VHS scouting tapes and I asked where he wanted me to sign."
