bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Agreed, MFS62. Hopefully he gets called up today. There's no point in playing Castillo anymore so let's see what Turner can do. The only reason that Luis Hernandez got called up ahead of Turner when Reyes got hurt was because Turner was on the DL. The Mets should show their minor leaguers that good performance gets rewarded.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Turner is a Wayne Krivsky guy, and I'm looking at whether or not they call him up as a litmus test on whether Krivsky is going to be our next GM.That 6-6 included a cycle.

It seems they (and Jerry) are laying low and waiting for the season to end, and I think the players deserve a little of the vision thing, so they don't have to waste their energy trying to muster it themselves. This! It would be great to see someone, anyone, out front as the face of the team and with a clear vision for how things will be better going forward.I'd also appreciate lots and lots of cheap ticket deals and other freebies and fan stroking.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 You're very fickle about this Reyes/Tejada thing.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I'd be very surprised if they didn't pick up his option, or perhaps use it as a starting point toward an extension.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I'd like to see Gee and Mejia get as many starts as possible. And anyone else who might have a shot next year as well. September should be an audition for next year's 5th starter. Get Parnell a start or two...let him develop his other pitches.Or, if you're not going to start Parnell, let him work on his other pitches instead of just relying on his fastball.Or, if you're just going to let Parnell work on his fastball, instill him as the "closer" then trade him for someone looking for an established closer who will overvalue the position.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 At my insistence, they tried Parnell as a starter last year. I am certain beyond all certainty that they are not going to repeat that experiment this September. In fact, with him having some success as the EEG, I don't think his role would change if you threatened to kill Jerry's family. One more reason to hire Bobby Valentine --- two Japanese pitchers on the team and possibly a huge bet coming on Yu Darvish.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I want to see if Beltran can play right field. Even if his days as a competent CF aren't over, his days of being a better CF than Angel Pagan most likely are.

(I think that's pretty much what we have here-- except cheaper, and maybe less of a dick.)One more reason to hire Bobby Valentine --- two Japanese pitchers on the team and possibly a huge bet coming on Yu Darvish.Godammit-- reckless, baseless cruelly-hope-fueling speculation is my province, man!And now I'm all stimulated, picturing Darvish in good-guy stripes. Dammit.

There's not much he can prove one way or the other over the final few weeks and he c/would probably argue that whatever drawbacks he has now are due to rust and it'll all be better come March. If he still looks slow then then you tell him he's no longer the CF (although it's probably in his contract that they have to file any such request in writing 30 days in advance of any pending move).
