Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Reyes-SS, Martinez-LF, Wright-3B, Beltran-CF, Davis-1B, Francoeur-RF, Thole-C, Tejada-2B, Santana-LHPCastillo needs to be in there.Mets don't win two in a row, win on the road, win series in merely the second game, if at all, so It's probably a safe bet to put your money on the former Colt .45s.That said, Santana will probably pitch another complete game.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Jerry is doing 2nd base by committee , knows he needs the practice.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 The playoffs are no longer a realistic possibility, right? So there seems absolutely no point to keeping guys like Castillo and Frenchy in the everyday lineup, and guys like FernyMart and Tejada out of it.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I think they're certainly a realistic possibility. Certainly more possible than not making the playoffs was down the stretch in 2007.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I hope Jerry has an intelligent explanation for why Frenchy is in and Pagan is out against a righty.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Pagan looked to me like he could use a blow. He has been carrying whatever offense the team could muster for weeks now. Frenchy is getting his start, and Fartinez is getting Frenchy's, kinda.Tejada can't hit, at least not yet and Castillo for all his limits can at least reach base. I don't see why we oughta use him.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 (edited) Guys , what's with all the questions? Edited August 17, 2010 by Guest
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 (edited) They're dozens of cumulative games out of the Wild Card, and something like twenty cumulative games out of the division. I think we have differing opinions on what "realistic" is. (There's a reason why 2007 was so notable.)I hope Jerry has an intelligent explanation for why Frenchy is in and Pagan is out against a righty. Edited August 17, 2010 by Guest
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I woulda given him his blow yesterday. I'd bet anything that Davey Johnson woulda done the same. What would Davey do?

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Start players who can hit better. No way I pack it in now if I'm the manager. No way I encourage it as a fan.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Hmmm... Wasn't "giving him a blow" Willie's expression, not Jerry's?

And falling one game short because of the crap Jerry inherited from Willie? Life's a game when four out of the first five guys in your lineup play like MVP's and the fifth one is merely an all-star having somewhat of a career year.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Martinez looked like he was running with a limp on that steal. Anyone else think that?

I'll gladly eat my words up there if we win 3 out of 4 here in Houston.Good way to start the game.1-0 Mets
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Frenchy against righties. Paying dividends.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I ain't afraid of no three-run homer. This is Good News Day.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Does Wayne Hagin have to sound SO fucking gleeful when the other team hits the ball a long way?
