Lou Gehrig Didn't Have Lou Gehrig's Disease?

Actually, what I got from that is that Yankees doctors are so inept at treating concussions that they forced one of their best players into early retirement.

Either that or they're subtly trying to push Lou off to the side now that Jeter has surpassed him in Yankees hits.

The head honcho at Johns Hopkins where my sister is getting treated for ALS sez:

"I think this [article] is interesting as it indicates that ALS as we call it may not be a uniform disease and presents an interesting way to classify different motor neuron diseases. However, at this stage what these findings mean about ALS pathogenesis and what they imply about Lou Gehrig and other athletes having ALS requires more investigations."

Any time they can find out more about ALS is obviously a good thing, as the doctor from the A.L.S. Association says though having Gehrig's name so closely associated with the disease is an important aspect form a money raising standpoint.

The connection or non-connection between on field concussions and ALS is interesting.

That is so fucking Yankee of him, to attach his name to a fucking disease that he didn't even have. What a jerk.

Next thing we're going to find out is that Tommy John never had Tommy John surgery.
