However, at this stage what these findings mean about ALS pathogenesis and what they imply about Lou Gehrig and other athletes having ALS requires more investigations."

Association says though having Gehrig's name so closely associated with the disease is an important aspect form a money raising standpoint. The connection or non-connection between on field concussions and ALS is interesting.
