Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Got to say, looking back at the Jacobs days, love this Hessman-for-Barajas swapout even more, as it leaves the team with one guy --- Cora --- who can't hit*, maybe two depending on your Francoeur disposition or if Blanco slides back to his career norm. Everybody else --- guys who can hit.Compare that to the start of the season when the team was carrying Cora, Tejada, Matthews, Tatis, Jacobs, and Catalonotto all at once(!), and we should be in a good position to make a run. We just need those that can hit to hit, you know, better, and Jerry to get out of the way.* "Can't hit," for the purposes of this post, may described as a trait brandished by guys who, when they do hit, make you stand up and say, "Holy crap, he can hit! I thought he couldn't do that!"

Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 420 is a pretty darn deep centerfield!
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 It's a good point about Guys Who Can Hit though. At one time at least, Matthews, Catalanotto, Tatis and Jacobs were GWCH themselves.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 In the spirit of this, and just because I'm a compulsive oceanliner-deck-chair rearranger...Post-hype candidate, worth picking up?Post-hype candidate, maybe worth picking up. (As the writer points out, he's but 26, and a hot streak away from being Rick Ankiel... AND he can play center from time to time.)
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Definitely worth a looksee
