I realize that the top candidates will all get one more start this month, but if July ended yesterday, I'd vote for Johan. He essentially matched Wainwright and Johnson and then gave up two earned runs over an additional nine or 10 innings. So while Johan is ever so slightly behind Wainwright and Johnson in ERA and WHIP, he's maintained his pace for about 30% more innings.

Well, look how high his ERA is! No wonder he can't win games.

Dickey's ERA for July is even lower. Those stats don't include his last start against LA where he pitched 5 2/3 inn. of shutout baseball.

Dickey's probably one of the NL's ten best pitchers this season. Because there are 16 teams in the NL, I suppose one could refer to Dickey as an ace pitcher: At least six NL teams don't have a starting pitcher pitching as good as Dickey is.

Looks like the Mets should get a chance to help Johan's cause by beating on Wainwright on Tuesday.

Yeah! Maybe the Mets will get a baserunner or two!

WOOOO!

A typical Johan performance and he's golden now. :-D

3. Gallardo/MILW------------38.0
4. Jimenez/COL--------------38.38
5. Lincecum/SF---------------38.43
6. Wainwright/STL-----------39.0 (Stats don't include tonight's loss against NYM)
7. Gorzellany/CHI------------40.2
8. Wells/CHI-------------------41.1
9. Francis/COL----------------41.7
10. Kershaw/LA---------------42.2
11. Dickey/NYM---------------44.6

That's B-R WAR or Fangraphs? I'm getting different numbers.

Tak will be skipped this week, so Johan will pitch tonight (Wednesday) and Dickey tomorrow, followed by Pelf on Friday.

The Mets offense did their job against Wainwright. Time for Johan to sew this thing up.
