I think I like Mark Teahen just a little bit more now.

Teahen usually plays a reggaeton song by former teammate Jose Lima's band and mixes in other tunes like "Barbie Girl" by Aqua and "A Bay Bay" by Hurricane Chris. Not this night. With Bieber at the park, Teahen figured why not use "Baby"? Although he's not necessarily a die-hard fan of the singer, he said he got turned on to the song a few months ago by his girlfriend and even has it on his iPhone. "The Bieber thing kind of started as a joke," Teahen said.

Between this and Troy Tulowitzki's flagrant Miley Cyrus-ing (IIRC) a month ago (according to the article, Nick Johnson's been right there with him this year), it seems like players are finally starting to explore the tongue-in-cheek walk-up oeuvre en masse. Which I personally welcome. Heck, AC/DC or supercaffeinated reggaeton isn't really going to intimidate anyone these days-- might as well do something funny, or some winking commentary, even. (It might not have gone over well with most, but I would have enjoyed the last few games I attended a lot more if, say, Dabidrye went with, say, "Is That All There Is" during September last year.)

Anyway... favorites? Least favorites? What's yer poison, fellers and fillies?

I'll be honest, I don't really give a shit.

If it were me, and I was pulling in a few mills playing ball, I'd be tempted to contact some musician friends and have them compose my own theme. Super scary rockin and all.

From the Mets:

Rod Barajas easily has the best music, alternating between "California Love" (Tupac & Dre) and "Low Rider" (War).

Jeff Francoeur uses a bunch of country I can't recognize but then for his 4th plate appearance, uses a part of "Baba O'Riley" which is a good choice, and I like because it doesn't use the beginning of the song but rather from the middle.

John Maine's use of "Here Comes the Hotstepper" (Ini Kamoze) always makes me laugh.

Btw, Jose Reyes does indeed commission his own reggateon at-bat music with his friends.

That list must be several years old and is hardly definitive as it lists Jason Bay as a member of the Pirates.

Bay's music is, by the way, "The Fixer" by Pearl Jam. He rocks it every single at-bat, the way Carlos Beltran does with his Christian salsa music.

Seconded. On AB music alone, I think I'd enjoy Rod Barajas' iPod more than any other current/recent Met.

Oh, yes. On this year's homestands, Johan seems to have been rocking the later-period Michael Jackson ("Black and White") of late, which is one part amusing and two parts bemusing. Has this always been the case, and I've just now noticed?

I like whatever song it is Pagan was using a few weeks ago. It had a very distinctive fanfare. He seemed to have switched out of it shortly thereafter.

Started last year after Jackson's death. Still uses "Smooth" by Carlos Santana/Rob Thomas as the warming-up-to-pitch music of course.

I think I'd make one of my friendtourage-types my AB-music DJ, and he'd match aural irritants to the particular pitcher, based on personal bugaboos or physical flaws ("It's Raining Men" for a known homophobe, e.g.).

Either that, or farty Dave Brubeck. Or Al Kooper. Or "Summer Wind."

I'm amused that Ike Davis comes to bat with a Rolling Stones song that's older than he is.

Last year, Gary Sheffield had a rap song that I thought was totally inappropriate. I think it included a lyric about fucking someone's sister. Obviously curse words don't give me the vapors, or I wouldn't stick around here, but I felt that was wrong to play in a ballpark.

Wright has been using the Dave Matthews Band's Too Much this season. I find that amusing, because my friend in California contends that DMB plays that particular song every time she sees them in concert (which has been many times).
