Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 As I said above, the series will only have an impact if there's a sweep, one way or the other. Going 1-2 or 2-1 isn't that much of a difference.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 The 20-inning game was the first game of consequence of the season. This is just another game.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Whoever wins game 1 will probably win the NL East.I don't know what the hell is going on but I love it.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 I won't listen to Francesa anymore, even if I was in the NYC area or I was home and wanted to tune into him on YES. He's a big feckin douche. But I will continue to enjoy the CPF channeling of him. I have heard enough of his shtick in my life to be able to appreciate it.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 I believe that over the course of the season all game are important. Each win counts the same in the standings. However, some games are probably of greater psychological importance for the team and their fans. I think getting back to .500 after the teams poor start was the first psychological hurdle to overcome. A series win, or hopefully a sweep, in Philadelphia will carry forth the momentum the team currently has going for it. Regardless of what a series win would do for the team, I know it sure would make me happy.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Each win doesn't count the same in the standings, though. Wins against the division opponents count for more, because you're not only knocknig yourself up a half game, you're pulling them back (or knocking them back), relative to your position. And wins against division favorites, therefore, have even more import.
