Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I figure this is fair game after another mojo-smashing Metiquette error spoiled our 4th straight winning streak at 1-game.Niese faces sophomore Randy Wells. Ike may or may not be in the lineup?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Metiquette Rule #1, folks. Somebody starts an In-Game Thread, and it's a winner (there have been few enough of these), let him or her start the next one. Out of gratefulness, if onthing else.Oh, and GO, IKE!
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 10 and 0 here we come.......the 10 most important games since the last 10 anyway....
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 OH MY GAWD! IKE DAVIS IS IN FRED WILPON'S BAWX! IKE DAVIS IS COMING TO CITI FIELD!
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Where's Ike gonna hit in the order?Over/under is 6.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I hope he gets an appropriate uniform number. (I don't know exactly what that means, but if he gets an inappropriate number, I'll know it!)
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I was trying to lobby for 17, which would require Tatis switches, but someone on the website suggested 3, so as to make the infield 1-3-5-7, not bad.Davis was wearing 20 in BuffaloOf the "availables," 9 is more likely in my estimation.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Won't they just give him the vacated #35?

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Eight (8) ... like Willie Stargell, and Joe Morgan and Carl Yastrzemski. Oh ... and Bill Dickey, too.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 6 would be nice. He'd nestle right between Wright and Reyes. (Numerically, not physically. Or maybe both.) Number 6 would be good for a guy who looks like Steve Garvey. And it's also Stan Musial's number. And maybe it will keep Wally Backman from becoming the Mets manager.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I just told you! Steve Garvey wore number 6!
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 What number did his father wear?[/quote:1hnfdyx6]MFY Ron Davis, (sorry Ike) wore various numbers north of 30.Whatever the number is, choose well as I expect Ike to wear it for the rest of his Mets life.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 His did did wear some interesting numbershttp://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/davisro02.shtml
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I just told you! Steve Garvey wore number 6![/quote:3hmwlxdk]Ike was born March 22, 1987. Garvey's Pads had a series in Chicago against Ron Davis' Cubs July 21-23, 1986, so for your theory to hold water, Ike would have had to have been born (conditional present perfect imperative?) at least one month premature. But there's probably a better way to welcome the guy to the Mets than to insult his mother.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Where's Ike gonna hit in the order?Over/under is 6.[/quote:3l8dn02h]I'm thinking 5, to break up the lefties. If Jacobs can do it, so can Ike.Better question is, does Manuel pinch hit Tatis if the Cubs bring in a lefty?

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Ike's uni number tonight will be 42.Same as everybody else.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 boooo. didn't we just honor Butch Huskey?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 29? That would suck.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Well, according to Mets By The Numbers, Tobi Stoner is 29, so did Tobi get sent back down or has Ike promised him a Swatch to switch?
Guest attgig Guests Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 the mets front office is smart with ike! (not so with meija)http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/04/ike-davis-strasburg.htmlTalking to MLBTR's Ben Nicholson-Smith, I learned that teams can now safely promote minor leaguers for their MLB debuts with no chance of the player amassing 172 days of service in 2010. By promoting '08 first-rounder Ike Davis today, the Mets ensured that he will be under team control through 2016 instead of 2015. In contrast, the Braves have Jason Heyward through '15.
