TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 I don't care what anyone says...I like Frenchy.
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 WOW! Four dingers. Frenchy and Barajas x2. Nice. After Pelfrey let those first two runs in, I had the pit in my tummy that visited often last season. Have to keep reminding myself, it's not 2009.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 SNY guys thought it was gone. Keith couldn't say anything but:"I was already marking it in my scorecard as a home run...I didn't even see it hit the wall."[/quote:17tsleli]They'd already put the HR graphic on the screen.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Young Ruben certainly looks smooth enough on defense. Tonight's probably the last we'll see of him for a while but that's all for the best for now.Be nice if he could sneak in a hit before he goes.John Sickels had some nice stuff to say about him today in a section on SS "sleeper" candidates: iow, guys too young or without enough of a track record to get a high grade yetJS: Ruben Tejeda - Mets, 20 years old -- hit .289/.351/.381 with 19 steals for Double-A Binghamton. Good defender, makes contact, could draw more walks eventually. I like this guy quite a bit and he has significant breakout potential.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2010 Author Posted April 9, 2010 Happy to start an IGT for a game that's going so well, enjoyed the taters. Nieve works around a walk, middle 8th.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2010 Author Posted April 9, 2010 First MLB hit for Tejada, nice for him to get that before he gets sent to Buffalo.

Edgy's keeping score, prize for the winner after the year.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Obviously a fun game tonight , great to see the kid get his first hit , who knows if he'll be here after Reyes is back tomorrow.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 So that's four games and three perfectly acceptable starts from our "sub-par" rotation.I'll be pulling for Ollie tomorrow.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Jerry making clear in the postgame that hitting four homers sends a message to the team that they don't have to manufacture every run.I prefer that it sends that message to him, but I salute the message.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Pelf turns it on after a shaky start. More Rod-slamming and Frenching than a hotel's adult-pay-per-view selection. Smoove gloving from Sammich Tejada and Alex Friggin' Cora. I laughed, I cried, it was better than the last two games. Four stars!
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 It was *miserable* in the wind tonight but that meant a very short line at the Shake Shack, so I guess that's something.Wright not running hard was pretty inexcusable. I would've liked to see Jerry argue more for a video replay but I didn't have a great angle on the ball when it hit the wall.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Howie referenced this sign in the post game.[/quote:xodxourr]And so Edgy referenced Howie.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Wright not running hard was pretty inexcusable. [/quote:269oaso8]And totally glossed over in the booth...of course the three of them thought it was gone too and Cohen was doing his home run call.(I thought it was gone as well and was doing my home run dance in my living room)

Guest themetfairy Guests Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 D-Dad, Kase, KB and I watched the game from an Empire Suite because we attended the Gary, Keith and Ron Foundation function. It was a good night to be in a suite, and a fun game to watch
