TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 As disappointing as last night's outcome was, it was the first full game of the season I got to watch live and it was nice to see an extra inning battle with some drama. It was what I had been craving for the past few months. This team has some potetial problems that got uncovered last night, but like others said in this very thread, I can't get completely up in arms after only 2 games. Especially when they're 1-1.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Wright gets the steal, now an IBB to Bay will put it in G-Mat's hands.[/quote:1mi14dxb]What did we think of that? I wasn't too crazy about taking the bat out of Jason Bay's hands and turning it over to Gary Matthews. I think I would have rather had Bay take a crack at an extra-base hit.[/quote:1mi14dxb]I thought they should have stolen with Jacobs up. Then, if Fredi wants to walk Jacobs with one out... well, by all means, go right ahead. As a matter of fact, I'm still not sure why Wright didn't run there, especially since all they were throwing the WindMachine was sliders.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Running w/Jacobs up would have taken away the hole between 1st & 2nd for the lefty. Not so important with Bay up and one out less to work with. And, yeah, Wright stealing so they could IW Bay is the same result as Bay walking and forcing David over there and we certainly wouldn't scoff at that outcome.I was also OK with leaving Takahashi in. There's a limit on how match-up nutty you want to get, especially for a non-descript hitter in the 10th inning when you're already on pitcher #6
