Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 (edited) Fool anyone?Revisiting arguably the best April Fool's prank ever:http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/features/cover/news/2000/07/24/finch_flash/ Edited April 1, 2010 by Guest
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Fucking bollox had me for a second.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Totally swallowed the hook.As if Pelfrey would need to grow.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 I logged on today thinking Google had really changed their name to "Topeka".
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 (edited) Fooled. But-- and I mean no offense, CF-- that's no great achievement. After the pop-up, the missed third-base bag, the Wagner deal, the Beltran secret surgery, the Reyes thyroid, and the array of storm clouds big and small that have shadowed this team's fortunes, hell, I steel myself when I see portentious-looking Mets graffiti. G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Good one, CF. I needed a laugh after learning about the latest Mets' marketing catastrophe in the making, reluctantly documented here.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Didn't fool me. But part of me was hoping it was true and some other arm would step up for 50 games.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Really? Do you guys not check your calendar at some point during the day?I give you an 'A' for effort CF, but I was not taken in.
dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Nah - not taken in at all... Now if that was a more believable name, like Reyes after the thyroid problem, you probably would have gotten me.April first always makes me remember, fondly, the exploits of Sidd Finch. I just loved how George Plimpton hid "Happy April Fools Day" in the first letter of each word of the opening paragraph...I also remember, not as fondly, that same date in 1987, when Doc was suspended the first time. I remember getting a call from one of my coworkers, and not believing him because I thought it was a bad April fools joke. Then I got the bad news from Sports phone...Get all the sports news instantly. Dial 976-1313....

And thankfully, not nearly as ultimately depressing as last year's, which left one-- or me, at least-- with that waking-up-from-a-happy-dream-about-an-old-flame-only-to-find-it's-just-a-dream feeling.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I knew it must be a joke.After all, isn't HGH supposed to improve performance?Later
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Unfortunately, I clicked before I even read the entire name of the topic, so I read "April Fool" before I read "suspended."

The 2009 bobblehead will be an unidentified ligament.
