The wife and I are going to see the Mets take on the Orioles in Camden Yard on Sunday, June 13th. We're making it the game the centerpiece of a 3 day weekend on Baltimore's Harbor.

stay in a hotel in the harbor, or stay out in the burbs.... we've had too many tourists get mugged around here after finding cheap hotels in the not so nice areas...

  • 1 month later...

Ted Berg reviews this year's culinary offerings, including Korean fried chicken at World's Fare, wider pizza variance, and... poutine?

I haven't figured out yet when I'm going to get down to Citi Field for a game this year. Fboy and I are likely to take in another weekday matinee this year at some point, plus the wife would like to go as well I am sure.

See you there, Doc!

I think that Orioles series is on my list (along with 4th of July weekend in Washington) of "road games that I'll probably go to if the Mets are good."

I don't think I've mentioned it here but this year's schedule worked out nicely and I was able to plan a road trip in July in which I'll be taking in 2 Mets games each at SF, ARZ and LA.

Late last year, KC and I encountered a soft opening of the new Asian offerings at world's fare, they were giving away the chicken and kimchi. Not bad IIRC.

I dig on Korean chicken in general... but I'm often coming from the Main St. side of the 7, so the World's Fare stuff will have some stiff competition for satisfying my pregame Chinese bun/chicken/kimchi/fish ball urges.

But as for the bro-hemian paradise of McFadden's*? Nothing matches this one, Pay-bro. Fist-pumpin' pregame, and chick-pumpin' postgame? FUCK AND YES, BRO McEWING! I SEE NO WAY THIS WILL MAKE CITIFIELD MORE THUGGISH OR DATE-RAPE-Y! PREGAME ON, MUTHAFUCKAZZZ!

*I'm sure it'll be okay... or at least not-terrible by ballpark standards. But this video is chock full of douche shorthand.

The kimchi was very good, JCL.
We should have weaseled something out of our McFadden's visit last
Sunday ... I need to get more pushy in my old age.

Fat Irish douche shorthand.

I have a pretty Metly first week this year ...

Got a single opening day ticket, LF Landing Gold -- looking forward
to tailgate with D-dad, Et al.

Have two for Wed 4/7 that can be had by a known cranepooler for
a fedex third party shipping number and daytime address on me.
(Prom Club 430 row 2 - my Sunday seats)

Have two for Thur 4/8, hoping that JCL will take me up for freezing
and gossip in The Coop's LF seats.

Have two for Fri 4/9 -- GKR Luxury Suite gathering -- woo hoo!! Ya
think Keith will show his mug?

Have Two for Sun 4/11, in the Sunday seats.

Will get back soon! (I just purchased 3 games in those seats too)

Would love to take 'em but can only use one of the two seats (the better half is busy that night). Happy to take in the game with another CPFer if they want...

There's no way I'm missing the Fourth of July series right in my own backyard.

In non-Mets GttG, the White Sox are coming to Washington from June 18-20, meaning the President is going to show up at at least one of those games.

I'd be happy to send them to you if you want, or I can bring them
to opening day if you're going. I'd go with you but it's like Mon, Thurs,
Fri, Sun ...

Thanks KC. Mighty generous of you, and I think the better half *will* be able to make the game after all. Sent you a PM.

Food, glorious food... specifically, the new stuff from all around the majors (courtesy of Walkoff Walk).

Highlights include:

-- CF's Crab Cake Sammich, Peking Duck Bun and Lasagna Bolognese

-- Citizens Bank Park's "Signature Hot Dog" vote

-- Cincinnati sushi?

-- Chicken and Waffles at Nats Park

-- All sorts of funkiness at brand-s-new Target Field, including barbecued turkey leg and pork-chop-on-a-stick.

All of a sudden, I feel like having my wife beheaded for not bearing me a son.

Monday, May 17: the Mets first trip to Atlanta in 2010, and $1 upper deck ticket night. Which, by my experience with Turner Field crowds, will quickly becomes $1 terrace level or $1 outfield bleacher night for me. Very downward-mobile park.

Interested in attending weekday matinees this year, at least 1 or 2, with my son. For those out there with season seats, I'd be willing to buy a pair of tickets from some CPF'er who can't use them in this situation. First one on the docket that I am eyeing is Wednesday 4/28 vs. Los Angeles.

I did this last year and it worked out great, except the CPF'er in question did not renew their season tickets for 2010.

Why not try StubHub or some other on-line site, FMan? Weekday matinees tend to have low prices on line.

True. This early in the season I can even get reasonably good seats through Ticketmaster. But the fees, holy hell.

I thought this could benefit both myself and someone else, who could save a few bucks by not having to sell tickets they can't use through Stub Hub or eBay. It wouldn't cost anyone more than a postage stamp and I'd be willing to pay face value for them.

D-Dad and I will be at the Citi tomorrow (Sunday - April 11). Is anyone else going to the game?

Gave our tickets last night to a friend who is bringing his Santana
jersey wearing daughter. Tell D-dad to have a Rum Bar for us!!

Didn't see the message until now, but worry not - D-Dad got his Mango & Bacardi :)

Fboy and I will be at Citi Field on Wednesday April 28th for the Mets/Dodgers 1:10 tilt.

Last year we got killed in traffic -- 45 extra minutes in and 2 hours back out, just to drive from the Grand Central to the Triboro to the Deegan and out to the Thruway north. Not sure if there's a better choice... was just checking the train schedule and I wouldn't save any time by driving to, say, Beacon, and taking the Metro North to GC and picking up the 7 train.

I may drive down to my parents' house in Ulster County the night before so that we can have a short train ride in the next morning... not that the wife will be happy with that choice as that will essentially be two nights that we're gone instead of one.

Is there a better, less traffic-y escape from Queens on a weekday after 4 PM? I have to believe that it'd suck way more trying to cross Manhattan into New Jersey... The Throgs Neck? The Whitestone?

Happy for any useful advice anyone has.

If you're heading back towards Ulster County (or points north), you might try taking the Whitestone bridge to the Hutchinson River Parkway. Take the Hutch north to I-684 North, to I-84 West to I-87. Might be an extra 10 miles out of your way but probably gets out out of the city limits as fast as possible.

Thanks Gwreck, I think I will try that this time.

That's the way to go Fman. I go in that direction back to CT after games. If you hit traffic at all, it'll be light and only as you are getting on to the Whitestone bridge. The lack of congestion will more than make up for any extra distance you travel.
