Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Francesa must give some great head to know that his source will keep things quiet until he's ready to break it.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 It is curious, isn't it?I'm hoping it's a pitcher.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Not listening; no additional posts from the usual suspects. Close reading of the Metsblog bid'ness hints that the real news will come in a day or so. If it's a personnel move, the timing has to mean it's a FA signing, doesn't it? (Trade announcements seem to be a good deal less deliberate.)This Francesa-as-mouthpiece thing seems more and more like a deliberate NY-paper-shunning campaign. (Lord knows the organization's got motive, in light of all the failed-team/failed-GM/failed-owner writing during the last 3-6 months.)
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I haven't listened to Francesa since 2005. Has he really been friendlier to the Mets than the local papers have been?

He sprays it on everyone, though. But compared to the Rubin Sunday-Snooze piece and other organizational dissections last year, along with the various and sundry Madoff stuff (which had to sting the Wilpons a bit more than the usual "these guys are out of touch/cheap" crit)? His shtick comes off like that-- well-meaning shtick.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Francesa is friendly to the Mets in the way Biff was friendly to George McFly in Back to the Future. Jeff Wilpon seems to have decided he is the most effective megaphone/loudest voice available, and maybe Mike'll be nice to us if we feed him info. They only acted on the Doc autographed wall kerfuffle last April once Mike decreed it was the right thing to do.FWIW, Francesa couldn't be more condescending toward the Jets either.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Isn't his show over by now?

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Is this 1985?[/quote:7gwk5lwq]From a baseball sense, that would be awesome. Otherwise I don't have the energy to relive the last 25 years.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Now if the Marlins move to the American League, change their mascot to the Gators, and play the Chicago Cubs in the 2015 World Series, THAT would be awesome.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 He teased an interview he'll have with Minaya tomorrow at the top of his show, a short while after the Bay conference.I can't imagine that's at what he was hinting.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 What a douchebag. He never had any news.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I heard Mike interview Bay yesterday. He came across as a good guy.BUT - he may have broken basketball player Adrian (Odie) Smith's* world record for the most "You know" -s in a twenty minute period. Later*= I heard the Smith interview and I got a tic from the repetition of "you know". I made up the part about the world's record, in case anyone would ask me for a link.
