Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 At the risk of showing how little I'm following in this post-season, why is Pedro starting game 2 instead of Hamels?

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 In addition to the atmosphere and Pedro can handle NY, it doesn't show a lot of confidence in Hamels, does it? He's been stinking lately and the manager must think that he can pitch better at home (and at night since he bitched about pitching during the day during the first round of the playoffs).

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Howard Johnson picked the Phils before the series, claiming that the Yankees bullpen would be their undoing.

I mean, it's Hamels and patchwork-- Moyer, Blanton-- the entire postseason for them in 2008.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2009 Author Posted October 29, 2009 GAME 2 -- Pedro vs BurnettLineup changes: Swisher out - Hairston in; Posada out - Molina inAlso, I hadn't realized that the Yanx dropped 3rd catcher Cervelli for the series (in favor of reliever Brian Bruney) meaning that Girardi is stuck without a backup if/when he uses Posada to PH. Cervelli made several appearances during the earlier rounds, mostly in the Burnett games where Molina started and then was yanked not long after Burnett was.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I'm in for a couple of innings ... Vote for Pedro!

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 This AJ Burnett wheels-almost-coming-off inning has been brought to you by Geico. Geico, for when you need insurance-- and lots of it, however wind- or stadium-aided-- because your primary option tends to fall apart spectacularly fast at the drop of a bunt.

'Cause, you know, I hadn't thought at all about how the Mets' two biggest rivals were playing tonight. Neither had about 300 major newspapers inside and outside of the tri-state area, 3 major networks, 5-6 cable sports networks, and a nation of Facebook posters.Buck-McCarver is like baseball for Brain-Damaged Beginners.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I bet that 20% of the people in the field level didn't understandthe catcher throwing to first and catching the runner off base.(ok, maybe 5-8%)

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2009 Author Posted October 29, 2009 How does the first half of a 1-1 game with no pitching changes and not many baserunners take 1:45?Never mind, I know the answer(s) - but it's frickin ridiculous.
