At the risk of showing how little I'm following in this post-season, why is Pedro starting game 2 instead of Hamels?

Something to do with the intimidating atmosphere ...

In addition to the atmosphere and Pedro can handle NY, it doesn't show a lot of confidence in Hamels, does it? He's been stinking lately and the manager must think that he can pitch better at home (and at night since he bitched about pitching during the day during the first round of the playoffs).

Watch. It's all a pretext to him repeating history with a body slam of Tony Pea.

Governor Patterson (Met fan) on FAN this morning:

When the bullpen walked the first two guys in the 8th inning, and the Phillies scored 4 runs in the last two innings, I'd seen it before and thought I must have been at Citi Field.

Howard Johnson picked the Phils before the series, claiming that the Yankees bullpen would be their undoing.

In addition to the other stuff mentioned, Charley also claims he wants to break up his LHPs.

Can't be too often that a team goes to the WS starting two pitchers who were mid-season pickups

Shows to go you how thin they were last year, really. I mean, it's Hamels and patchwork-- Moyer, Blanton-- the entire postseason for them in 2008.

GAME 2 -- Pedro vs Burnett

Lineup changes: Swisher out - Hairston in; Posada out - Molina in

Also, I hadn't realized that the Yanx dropped 3rd catcher Cervelli for the series (in favor of reliever Brian Bruney) meaning that Girardi is stuck without a backup if/when he uses Posada to PH. Cervelli made several appearances during the earlier rounds, mostly in the Burnett games where Molina started and then was yanked not long after Burnett was.

Philliedom aside, I like the hell out of Matt Stairs. Good on you, you fat bastard.

Native New Yorker Raul Ibanez is playing for the Phillies, but he's in league with the terrorists.

Nice catch.

Definitely on my all-time favorite non-Mets team.

This AJ Burnett wheels-almost-coming-off inning has been brought to you by Geico. Geico, for when you need insurance-- and lots of it, however wind- or stadium-aided-- because your primary option tends to fall apart spectacularly fast at the drop of a bunt.

McCarver can't resist taking shots at the Mets.

Bite me, Tim!

Yes, but at least the insight was worth the insult. 'Cause, you know, I hadn't thought at all about how the Mets' two biggest rivals were playing tonight. Neither had about 300 major newspapers inside and outside of the tri-state area, 3 major networks, 5-6 cable sports networks, and a nation of Facebook posters.

Buck-McCarver is like baseball for Brain-Damaged Beginners.

I bet that 20% of the people in the field level didn't understand
the catcher throwing to first and catching the runner off base.

(ok, maybe 5-8%)

Ya knew that pick off was gonna change things.

How does the first half of a 1-1 game with no pitching changes and not many baserunners take 1:45?

Never mind, I know the answer(s) - but it's frickin ridiculous.

Sorry, I'm late to the game. I was watching my complete DVD set of Roots. How are things going?

Hey, when did the Yanks get Teixeira?
