metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Yes the media is digging around and finding Mets fans in strange places.....I'm surprised they've not tracked down Ben Grim , he's perfect for the articles...Mets fan in Philly land....also a New Yorker(IIRC).......oh who will he root for.....THIS IS HIS HELL.......Mike fucking Lupica is sucking on some serious yankee meat this past week , an article today lauding Hank & Hall the same guys he ripped the last few years.....I hate this time of year....I barely read the paper today becasue it was filled with nothign but yankee jizz.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 IL games from this year. All games at YSIII:Friday May 22 -- Phils 7 - Yanx 3The Phils jump out to an early 5-0 lead en route to smacking AJ Burnett and CM Wang around for 14 hits. HRs for Werth, Rollins, Ruiz (all off Burnett) & Ibanez (Wang). Starter Brett Myers gives up 3 runs late before giving way to Ryan Madson who pitched a perfect 9th.Game Time = 2:33Saturday May 23 -- Yanx 5 - Phils 4 (Happ vs Pettitte)John Mayberry Jr - playing in his MLB debut - hits a 3R HR off Pettitte in the 5th to break a 1-1 tie (and while FOX was in the process of misidentifying JM Sr. in the stands). Its 4-2 heading for the 9th but Lidge coughs up 3 runs while getting only 1 out for the walk-off win: Walk - SB - K - 2R HR (ARod) - 1B - SB - RBI 1B (Cabrera)HRs: Jeter, Rodriguez, Mayberry, IbanezGame time = 2:33Sunday May 24 -- Phils 4 - Yanx 3 (12 innings) Hamels vs Sabathia- Sabathia goes 8 allowing 3 runs on 9 hits- Hamels goes 6 allowing 2 runs before three middle relievers piece together a scoreless 7th & 8th. Again this leads to Lidge in the 9th and again he fumbles the lead, again giving up an RBI 1B to Melky to drive in Cano and tie the game, although he does manage to then get the next three outs and send it into extras.- In the 11th, Brent Tomko issues Utley a 2-out walk followed by an RBI 2B by Carlos Ruiz. Clay Condrey, who had danced through trouble in the bottom of the 10th, pitches a 1-2-3 bottom 11 for the save.Game time = 3:58
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Steve showed up in this thread over a day ago, but there are still no Yankee votes?Curious.Later
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I'm trying to think of a worse time for Mets fans and having trouble coming up with anything. This sucks as much as things can suck.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 See, I don't have a problem whatsoever with the Phils. If the Yankees are in the World Series, I don't particularly care if it's the Phils, Astros, Dodgers, or Rockies going against them. The Phils beat the Mets, let them beat everybody. If a Phillies phan talked shit to me this year, I told him his team were the champions --- congratulations --- and they don't have to talk shit anymore. Talking shit is for also-rans. It created some visible internal conflict for some of them, but I meant it well.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 long-term debilitating injuries... or a meteor would be good too.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 The last time a World Series was played between a New York team and a Philadelphia team, there was an earthquake.Of course, both of those teams had relocated to the Bay Area by then.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I don't want the Phillies to win, I just want the Yankees to lose.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 #31This place is funny, landslide with no Yankmee votes andI'm guessing the most voters ever in one poll too.(I'm not actually 'rooting' for the Phils and will largely ignorea large portion of live World Series action this year)
Guest Number 6 Guests Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 #32, and actually, honest-to-god surprised that among such a large sample size no one is going the other way. Surprised, but not shocked.
dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 If only the actual world Series could be as lopsided in the same direction...
