metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 That's some serious sack movement there from Carl Weathers. I saw Survivor years ago at Hunter mountain, it's like the whole crowd was waiting for eye of the tiger. I was pumped after hearing it,you are on a roll JCL

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Gotta keep working toward what may or may not be there.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I asked the other day why the Mets aren't shaving. The Post today said that Cora organized a no-shave policy until the team reaches .500.http://www.nypost.com/seven/07292009/sports/mets/amazins_playing_with_the_right_scruff_181878.htm
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Brian Costello wrote]Alex Cora came up with the concept on the flight from Washington to Houston last week. With the team reeling after dropping two of three to the lowly Nationals, Cora and the others thought some team unity couldn't hurt. What a concept. I'm truly surprised no one ever thought of this until Cora did.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Tough lineup they're facing tonight:Apollo Creed, ssMason "The Line" Dixon, cfRocky Balboa, 3bJames "Clubber" Lang, rfIvan Drago, 1bTommy Gunn, 2bTony "Duke" Evers, lfPaulie Pennino, cLudmilla Drago, pI figure the key is to get to Ludmilla early.(By the way, I'm pretty sure 100% of this lineup is on the juice.)
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I would have pegged Creed as a first baseman , good feet for the dancing around the bag.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Believe me, with a lineup full of sculpted lunks, the fight over the firstbaseman's mitt was vicious and oily. In the end, it was agreed that Drago had the best reach.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Mrs. Balboa "stop the game! it's raining"Mickey for Manager?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Jerry just climaxed thinking of the bunting possibilities with a southpaw at third base.

Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I'm trying to imagine all the advertisements Paulie would manage to squeeze onto his catcher's mask.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 What a bunch. The Karate Kid pantheon suddenly pales..
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I just read that Spider Rico makes a return in the "new" Rocky movie, as a slightly retarded guy. Anyone seen it?

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Rocky Balboa -- Rocky 6, is what I meant. I haven't seen it yet.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Yes, I saw it. Rocky Balboa was surprisingly good. I really enjoyed it - it redeemed the series for me after the horrific failure of Rocky V.Spider Rico is in it - Rocky owns a restaurant, called Adrian's, and Spider frequently eats there. At one point, he goes down to the kitchen and starts watching dishes, over the objections of Rocky. I wouldn't call him retarded though.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 There's actually a very good scene in Rocky Balboa where Rocky is talking to his son about life and how winning is done, which is very appropriate in this context:
dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I kept waiting for his son to fly off in that scene...That said, I was pleasantly surprised with the last Rocky movie - I just felt it jumped around a little too much....
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 page 2 and we dont even have a lineup.

From Burkhardt:METS:PaganCastilloWrightMurphFrancoeurSullivanSantosCoraIf it ain't broke, don't fix it. Aside from the Schneider/Santos platoon it's the same lineup all week. It'll look better still with Sheff in there instead of Cory Haim-Feldman-Sullivan.
