We're gonna crucify 'em, real bad.

Classic!

So, wait. Are we going to beat the Rockies or just butthump them?

Note that I am fine with either choice.

That's some serious sack movement there from Carl Weathers. I saw Survivor years ago at Hunter mountain, it's like the whole crowd was waiting for eye of the tiger. I was pumped after hearing it,

you are on a roll JCL

I prefer to think of it as "tough love."

Alex Cora came up with the concept on the flight from Washington to Houston last week. With the team reeling after dropping two of three to the lowly Nationals, Cora and the others thought some team unity couldn't hurt.

What a concept. I'm truly surprised no one ever thought of this until Cora did.

Tough lineup they're facing tonight:

  1. Apollo Creed, ss

  2. Mason "The Line" Dixon, cf

  3. Rocky Balboa, 3b

  4. James "Clubber" Lang, rf

  5. Ivan Drago, 1b

  6. Tommy Gunn, 2b

  7. Tony "Duke" Evers, lf

  8. Paulie Pennino, c

  9. Ludmilla Drago, p
I figure the key is to get to Ludmilla early.

(By the way, I'm pretty sure 100% of this lineup is on the juice.)

Believe me, with a lineup full of sculpted lunks, the fight over the firstbaseman's mitt was vicious and oily. In the end, it was agreed that Drago had the best reach.

Jerry just climaxed thinking of the bunting possibilities with a southpaw at third base.

"If he bunts, he bunts."

Take her to the Bronx; I hear r*t*rds like the Bronx.

Also, Spider Rico demands a trade to a team that will let him start.

Rocky learned how to play righthanded as a pre-game strategy to screw with Jerry's head.

Pretty sure he swung 80 times one handed until he mastered it, several times a day of course.

Ads? Maybe. I dunno.

Flasks of Ol' Granddad in both knee-savers, no question.

Yeah, the Spider Rico-Rocky fight was one of the highlights of the first movie.

Also, Thunderlips is wasting on the bench.

I just read that Spider Rico makes a return in the "new" Rocky movie, as a slightly retarded guy. Anyone seen it?

The new one, like Rocky 7?

I know Stallone played retarded guy in Rocky 6

Rocky Balboa -- Rocky 6, is what I meant. I haven't seen it yet.

Yes, I saw it. Rocky Balboa was surprisingly good. I really enjoyed it - it redeemed the series for me after the horrific failure of Rocky V.

Spider Rico is in it - Rocky owns a restaurant, called Adrian's, and Spider frequently eats there. At one point, he goes down to the kitchen and starts watching dishes, over the objections of Rocky. I wouldn't call him retarded though.

There's actually a very good scene in Rocky Balboa where Rocky is talking to his son about life and how winning is done, which is very appropriate in this context:

I kept waiting for his son to fly off in that scene...

That said, I was pleasantly surprised with the last Rocky movie - I just felt it jumped around a little too much....

Some of the regular writers are on vacation or perhaps are shell-shocked so the lineups aren't be posted as fast as normal.

METS:
Angel Pagan CF
Luis Castillo 2B
David Wright 3B
Daniel Murphy 1B
Jeff Francoeur RF
Cory Sullivan LF
Omir Santos C
Alex Cora SS
Johan Santana LHP (11-8, 3.12)

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Aside from the Schneider/Santos platoon it's the same lineup all week.

It'll look better still with Sheff in there instead of Cory Haim-Feldman-Sullivan.
