I agree that the red hats were disgraceful. Granted, it wasn't their decision, but the Mets deserved to lose just for wearing them.

The last Met I can remember actually throwing a purpose pitch was Duaner Sanchez hitting Miguel Cabrera semi-intentionally way back in '06.

I am not mollified by the fact that the other half won.

Hey, even the Yanx wore the red yesterday - and they're usually the ones to say; "F.U. MLB, we're sticking with our tradition and we don't care what the cause is".

The two points of the hat business are the PR boost of a public display of "patriotism" and money going to veterans' groups from selling the stuff, no?

So why make the teams advertise hats that look like crap with their respective uniform sets and probably won't sell too well to the fanbases (especially when in colors that reflect those of your favorite team's rival)? Why not produce three standard versions of the hats, in red, white and blue, and allow teams to select which color they'd like to advertise/sell?

Or just slap a flag design on the back. Or have every team choose a design that they feel suits them.
