seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Wondering if either or both were on the postseason roster in 1969. Working on the autograph collection, and don't want to send the wrong thing (a card featuring a '69 celebration image) if they weren't technically involved.Gosger was acquired in September, so I'd think he wasn't involved, but I don't know about DiLauro.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Pretty sure DeLauro was on the roster but wasn't used.
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 You're right about Gosger; he didn't get to the Mets until after September 1st and rules at the time froze the roster at that point.I'm pretty sure Dilauro was on the playoff roster. He pitched both August 29th and September 1, which would indicate he was on the roster as of September 1. He joined the team the previous December, but wasn't on the opening day roster, but probably came up when Al Jackson was traded. This[/url:3k30e6c0] lists Dilauro on the roster.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2009 Author Posted July 2, 2009 Good by me. I'll send a regular card to Gosger, and a '69 card to DiLauro.(Going like gangbusters toward 400 Mets autographed cards.)
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Sometimes I see both DiLauro and Bobby Pfeil listed amongst the usual gang of Postseason Roster Mets.I know DiLauro actually made it, but what was the deal with Pfeil and the roster? Was he like on the bubble and the Mets decided to go with the extra arm?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 DiLauro was real good in 1969. He is too unsung. Somebody sing of him.

But his equipment saw action: the Secret Service borrowed his glove to protect Pat Nixon from foul balls in Baltimore.
