Caught stealing?

Throw bounced and STILL got him.

Also, Gallardo JUST got away with heat left up and over the plate to Murphy.

Plus 3 more today for David.

135, 125, 142, 147, 84 are their respective OPS+ numbers, an out is an out even though the k's may frustrate you as a fan

Hardy reaches for one, yanks it to Cora for a 6-3 putout.

Now... it's Braun and Fielder.

Nando keeps his legs under him for a beaut of a catch.

Why are you assuming this thing is accurate?

Because it's on the Internet, so it must be right.

I'm not. I'm presenting what's available as evidence. It's MLB's tool, so I don't see why it shouldn't reflect poorly on them if it discredits their ump.

They're sending Pelfrey back out, right?

He's getting a bit of help on the right side (catcher left) of the plate, it seems, but Gallardo's curves are wiffletastic. Two more Ks in the 7th makes 12 (!).

On the plus side, he's at 114 pitches. (Pelf at 89.)

[And no, I'm not at work today.]

You know, 89 pitches to Hardy/Braun/Fielder/Hart is a tough 89.

balk you

The call, on replay, seemed legit-- Pelf's foot stayed on the rubber.

The bigger question-- WTF is he holding Prince Fielder on for?

I was taking a call. Has anybody ever balked Prince Fielder up a base?

Can we add this to the bizarre plays of 09 thread?

NICE play by Schneider, with the quick throw to second after Hart misses a second bunt... and by Cora, who sneaks in behind Fielder on cat feet and makes a snappy throw to nail Fielder at third.

Fielder shouldn't have been drifting off second. Maybe the balk swelled his head.

Maybe that was the plan all along.

And then he's caught stealing third?

WHAT PLANET AM I ON?

Inside fastball catches Gamel... cold.

That's Newhouse.

It's more like NewCountryHouse, or NewVillage.

Either way, three down.

Yeah, whatever his name is, he cut us down.

Butr Wright put one in play.

So I'm watching this thing on ESPN Game Cast, and the first thing to change after the pitch becomes blue (signaling that it's "in play" is the "PREDICTED WINNER" box in the top right corner, before the outcome of the play is displayed.

So the third pitch turns blue there, and I immediately look to the top right corner... to see it change from NYM 70% to NYM 82%. I sigh in relief as the little on-screen baseball bounces easily to third and turns into an X.

Green gets it done!

Mr. Green offers Mr. Wright a choice of bags. Sugarpants opts to trot to third. All in all, a most genteel resolution to that quand'ry.
