Ugh. Walking the first two batters you face with a 3-run lead makes me want to punch myself.

(edit) in the inning, of course.

Are the walks an issue with the home plate umpire? Is he squeezing everyone? Or are these guys just wild as hell tonight?

Parnell looked like his control was off slightly.

Putz is all over the place.

Putz is now at 26 pitches in one full inning.

And he gets Willingham with the splitter.

Please throw to Guzman. He swings at anything close.

Whew - the runners are stranded!

Well, it wasn't pretty, but Putz got out of it unscathed.

Way to gut that one out, Franco.

Wow, does Ramon Martinez really have an OBP lower than his .088 BA? That's quite a feat.

On to the 9th.... a Mets win would be a good ending to a day spent drinking other people's beer and watching my in-laws bicker over dopey shit.

BTW: After 101 PA, Sheff now batting .277, slugging .500, and getting on-base at a .410 clip. Also, he's been surprisingly spry on the bases-- 1 SB, 3 first-to-thirds on singles-- and the team's second-most sure-handed left fielder.

In retrospect, I'm okay with the signing. Anyone still object to this union?

I'd like to point out that I was good with it from the beginning. This is what we replaced Marlon Anderson with -- remember that.

="Kong76"]tmf: The baby in the sun is not creepy <<<

I don't care for it, mileage may vary.

I love it for its creepy awesomeness. I like to think the real sun has a real creepy baby face smiling down at us, at least when we are wearing our gay body-costumes.

And counting... Kearns as the tying run, up with one down.

Did you catch that we've got more of them than this rancid Nat staff?

'Cause we do.

KRod is one addition I never questioned!

In the books!

Shook off a few spasms there myself.

A nice day at the beach. Made a good dinner. Drank some good beer. Mets win. A great day indeed.

Now off to bed.

I was at the game and missed this excellent IGT, so a few comments if I may:

Sun baby = creepy. Very creepy.

Yay Sheff. Right or wrong he is a guy that plays very well when motivated and not so well when not so motivated. This situation seems to have him motivated quite a bit.

Apparently Parnell, having been crowned the new eighth inning guy by several media outlets, can't get motivated for the seventh any longer.

Beltran is a game-time decision with a bad leg, and yet Shines sends him home with the hottest guy in the hemisphere on deck. Bad call even if he makes it. And Wright should have gotten the bat.

A JJ Putz inning is maddening enough when watching on TV, but at least you can flip over to the Yankees or NHL playoffs or something eight or nine times during his inning. At the game you sort of lose track of where you were, like when you've been on the same highway for a long time. Suddenly you look up and there are two runners on base and you have no recollection of how they got there.

And that sun baby - extremely creepy.

Honestly, the sun baby originally creeped me out. . . but ever since he started visiting me in my dreams and telling me to burn things, his image has become quite comforting.

Damn , wish I had known you were there, would have been fun to meet.

Anyway our first trip to Citi Field and we enjoyed it immensely. A few rookie mistakes by me , first we forgot the buggy for Lorcan....then parked in the Marina parking lot , had a split second to make that decision and obviously should have taken the other road and parked closer to CF.

Got there early to hang out , my sister and her husband met us there......really liked how much nice space is outsider and how friendly this staff are.....liked the Robinson Rotunda , big ass Mets store had everything except tee-shirts for toddlers....looked for them than asked and told nothing for that age...weird.....Lorcan picked up a Mets soccer ball so my sister bought him that.

The seats I got are from my brother-in-laws brother-in-law.....he has four seats in Promenade section 424 , right on the railing, two actual seats and room for two wheelchairs or you can grab two folding chairs....really great seats and if we hadn't forgotten the buggy there was plenty of room for that too.

Lorcan had fun but it's a bit much to expect an 18 month old to sit for innings at a time, we walked around and went down to the kids area where he threw a fir becasue he wanted to walk around the concourse and I wanted to carry him.....got to the hitting tee and he promptly walked in and took two whiffle balls while screaming at me for trying to pick him up....the line for Shake Shack was too long to wait in , next time for that.

Stayed through the 8th , had a fun time and like the stadium a lot...lots of space which is great.

Agree with Swanie about Beltran......had a great view of that and could see he was going to be out by a good bit......I have a picture of it even......jeez Razor....didn't think Sheffs was a home run from where we were...

Too many walks made this a long game and the delay for the review didn't help.
