Lots of ways for the Mets to screw that up, but the Phillies just screwed it up worse. And yes, that's definitely an error on Reyes, because it allowed Coste to reach third.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Wow, Mets pitchers getting it done at the dish tonight.Let's see a clutch hit. Ihave visions of the 3 HR game Reyes had here a few years back.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Utley homered?I leave the room for a minute.....DAMN YOU UTLEY !!!*swings fist in air*
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Rough night for Reyes, he's still trying to find his game too I think.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 So far so good. Putz throwing strikes. Crappy Miguel Cairo at the dish to pinch hit.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Thank you, Mr. Putz, for a scoreless 8th.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 The Amstel commercial is the current winner of the "overplayed and super-irritating SNY advertisement."

Guest Kong76 Guests Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I wish they sold regular Amstel here.(edited five times, lol)
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Come on. 3 up, 3 down. Don't give them any hope.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Can of corn. One down. The Cryin Hawaiian is up.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Beh. Two out walk to Utley. Ryan "Nostrils" Howard up.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 No cable-- listening on radio. TELL me he did the fist-pump, point-to-God thing.(I bought tickets for tomorrow three months ago; at least 30 percent of that was the prospect of witnessing the super-histrionic fist-pump, point-to-God business in CBP.)
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Took a lot of pitches for that 9th, but he got it done.Mets win the 1st game of this series.I want a sweep!

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 THOUGHTS ON THE GAME!!!! (only kidding)- I can't believe Utley's HR left the park. Looked like a jam-job pop fly to me.- That Chinese fire-drill of a play was obviously huge. Someone said that the throw was a foot from sailing over Reyes's leap and two runs insta-Philly runs but did you notice that both Beltran & either Church or Cora were backing up and in perfect position for any overthrow? Nice group effort there.- Re: Beltran tagging and his slow start: I think he was sort of reading how Werth fielded that ball and was ready to slam on the brakes if he didn't like how it was developing. But going all out was the right move there. I sometimes wonder about Beltran's instincts. He'll make 10 smart plays and then throw in a real klunker.

He's not gonna make anyone forget Edgardo Alfonzo but I like him as a reserve so far. He's made plays in the field in these past few games that Damian Easley could only dream of making. And he's not much more than a singles hitter offensively but he appears to have an idea of what he's doing up there, unlike, say, David Newhan or something.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Bet the Angles want Frankie Rod back right about now.Brian Fuentes blows the save in da Bronx without even getting an out.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 That's right, it was Cora cuz Reyes was in the hole. But Beltran was directly in line for an overthrow and Church was right behind him. Nice sign even if it never came into play.
