MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Its great to see them again. When you look at the box scores for the Mets, how do you read them?Hitters first? From the top, or do you check out any particular players and then read the other names?Pitchers first?Prospects first?Do you check out the boxes for any other particular team(s)?All of them?Inquiring minds want to know.Later
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Fantasy sports has probably changed the way many people read boxscores-- they'll check players rather than teams, and pay more attention to OOTS than previously. For me, it's always top-to-bottom, hitters first.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 I always flash on being a kid and realizing, without anyone having to tell me, that guys who hit home runs had a number in every column. So I think I look for numbers in every column.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Main game score, then rough top-to-bottom, hitters-to-pitchers. (At least in games I care about-- as a fantasy guy, I found myself much more drawn to B.J. Upton and Pena than the Rays' actual winning, at least until midsummer or so.)As far as where my eyes drift, I'm with Lunchbucket-- filled columns. But also, double-digits-- whether good or bad-- in the pitchers' columns also draw my gaze; if something doesn't add up in the R-H-E score, I'll also tend head to "LOB" first for 'splaining.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 My first glance I look at who had the hits and what the BA/OBP was for the day. Then I look at the hitters who didn't get hits and what other stats they picked up.Then I go and look at the pitchers in the same way. I see who gave up the most runs and then I check out the other guys.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 There is no one way. Depends on the circumstances.Current Mets games: If I don't know the score, then I check that first. Duh. Then I check to see how Delgado did. For the last few years, I've felt the fate of our offense was greatly dependent on Delgado going back to form. Then I check the starters stats, and as JCL mentioned, who has numbers in every box.Old Mets Games: I hardly look at the numbers. Just scan the lineup and see what sort of team we were fielding.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 if i don't know the score i'll consciuosly avoid it and read batter by batter in the "game log". if i know the score then theres no set order that i'll check it in
