* SANCHEZ caught by CASTRO 65 ABs, allows 0 HRs and OPP SLUG%=292
caught by SCHNEIDER 108 ABs, allows 6 HRs and OPP SLUG%=454

* HEILMAN caught by CASTRO 50 ABs , allows 0 HRs and OPP SLUG%=340
caught by SCHNEIDER 195 ABs, allows 9 HRs and OPP SLUG%=456

* FELICIANO caught by CASTRO 36 ABs, allows 0 HRs and OPP SLUG%=306
caught by SCHNEIDER 134 ABs, allows 6 HRs and OPP SLUG%=455

Yeah, IIRC at least Pelfrey's numbers go the other way...especially for the 2 months he was untouchable last year.

here's the best i can do (which is not to say i believe it)

They used data for: Pedro(36), Santana(29), Wagner(36), Sanchez(28), Feliciano(31), Heilman(29)
They left out data for: Perez (26), Pelfrey (24), Maine (27), Smith (24), Schoenweis (34), Figueroa (34)
thats the 12 guys who throw the most innings.

maybe Castro was better for the older guys because he let them call their own games, while Schneider was better at telling the younger guys like Pelfrey, Perez, and Maine what to do.

i'd like to see the splits for the whole season with all pitchers included

Castro can't stay off the DL so in that respect he is a huge(head) disappointment.

And The Schneid obviously had a poor year all around: Didn't hit with any authority till August, and was not the kind of defensive catcher who brought any added value, which IMO was the first and best reason for getting him in the first place. If your job is to be a backup catcher, you better be ready, and not on the DL. Because Castro's inability to be a good BACKUP catcher, we've had to frequently have 3 catchers on our roster. I would actually think that Castro would make a better starting catcher, and then, when he does get hurt (not if), then, schneider would make a great backup catcher. if we have to carry 3 catchers again, the Castro has again failed at his job. attgig Jan 13 2009 08:37 AM so, collecting everyone's stats together, and marking those who matter and those who don't...
