G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 The Brooklyn Cyclones will be the Baracklyn Cyclones for an evening in June[/url:1tlk2vtt].
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I can see this going over well with a certain segment of the population. "They didn't do this when Bush was inaugurated. It's liberal bias!!!!"The Cyclones better hope that Obama is still popular come June.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Even if the glow of the corona ... oops, I mean inauguration has worn off by that point I don't think honoring him in a county that probably voted for him at an 80/20 clip is taking that big a risk.

Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Setting a bad precedent with stuff like this but you know what? Fred is big GOP supporter and musta signed off on it.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 They sell out every game anyhow. It's not like every president isn't welcomed in every ballpark in the country his first year.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 What bad precedent? they are a private entity, they can support whoever the heck they want, and good for them getting in on the Barack Obama money making machine before the well goes dry. If anyone watches the Colbert Report check out episodes from last week, theres one where he does a whole Obama marketing joke thats pretty good.
Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Bad precedent in that now they must do this political non-sense each election cycle or be criticized. Next it's Schumar-lyn Day or Giuliani-lyn Day. As the sign in the corner pub reads, "no talk of politics or religion allowed".
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I really doubt they'll be criticized if they don't honor the next president, four or eight years from now, with a bobblehead doll. And anyway, you can't let yourself be paralyzed by fear of criticism.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 why should they be criticized? if theres money to be made on Palin Day in 2017 they'll take the cash and laugh their way to the bank
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Has anyone ever laughed their way to the bank?I think anyone who does that would probably be carted away in a straightjacket.
