Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 ELM ST is a clever little horror film, with a lot more on its mind than it would otherwise appear.and BB is little more than a string of musical numbers and car crashes. But you know what?Jake and Elwood are just too cool to vote against. Ya see, they're on a mission from god.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 There are a hundred great quotes from that movie.Elwood: What kind of music do you usually have here? Claire: Oh, we got both kinds. We got country *and* western. Name ONE quote from Nightmare. ONE. I dare ya.This is a no-brainer of the highest order.
Guest Vince Coleman Firecracker Guests Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Vic Sage wrote:BB is little more than a string of musical numbers and car crashes. That's very true. However, I think that actually adds to its rewatchability. Whenever it's on (which is often), I normally make sure I watch the Aretha Franklin part and the car chase through the mall, and before I know it, I've watched the whole thing. Four fried chickens and a coke.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 totally. it's a series of set-pieces, so you can pick it up at any point and get some entertainment. Aretha, Ray Charles, Cab Calloway, and the BBs themselves all give highly entertaining performances; and car crashes this excessive are always fun.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Name ONE quote from Nightmare. ONE. I dare ya. i don't know why that's a defining criteria, but ok, here's 2:- Freddie: "I'm your boyfriend now, Nancy!"- "One, two, Freddy's coming for you. / Three, four, better lock your door. / Five, six, grab your crucifix. / Seven, eight, better stay awake. / Nine, ten, never sleep again..."
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 "Whatever you do, don't fall asleep!"Nightmare completely terrified me. It was exilerating.Blues Brothers bored me to death, and set the stage for so many other stupid movies that should have remained vanity projects and/or 3-minute skits. Good lines and car crashes and some good music, but eh.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 I don't know if I saw "Nightmare" or not. I remember my friends all liked those kinds of movies, so I went along to a few of them, but those Jason/Freddy etc. movies are all a blur to me now, and probably were then. All I know is I didn't think much of the Blues Brothers at the time, and when I watched it again years later, I didn't feel any differently. So I'm disqualifying myself from this poll.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 it would be wrong to vote against The Blues Brothers, because not only is a great film, but a Crane Pooler was instrumental in it being made.

Guest themetfairy Guests Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 As between these two, I'm going with the Blues Brothers.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 "It's 200 miles to Chicago, we've got half a tank of gas, two packs of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.""Hit it."---Agree with those who said it's a no brainer.
dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 No I didn't. Honest... I ran out of gas. I, I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts. IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD.It's a no-brainer.

Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 I always liked Jason movies better, but that might have been because we thought there was a better chance of seeing some skin. "Blues Brothers" was mindless fun. I watched it with my son recently, part of his classic rock education.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Jake 22, Freddy 5
Guest cooby Guests Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Of all the movies you guys have put up for vote the past week or so, Blues Brothers is the only one I would bother to watch again, even all these years later.
