Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 - the problem with leaving in Rincon is that he's never been anything other than a lefty specialist his whole career- the problem with walking Dukes is that you'd be loading the bases and pushing a 2nd run into scoring position where a cheapie single can do almost as much damage as the HR didThis game is on the hitters who aren't hitting and on the pitchers who are continually * almost but not quite * getting out of the inning. It's not on Jerry.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Gack. When I left the school board meeting tonight it was only 2-1.They kill me. Absolutely kill me.
Guest mario25 Guests Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 A big comeback would make us all forget the first 7 innings
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Keith and Ron killing Mock for throwing off-speed stuff with a six run lead , fine, but I never hear them critical of met pitching in similar situations.

What do you want him to do?The 1 hit isn't his fault and last inning probably won't effect the outcome but I want Jerry to leave a reliever in that got 2 outs in a row to start an inning.Agreed. We search to get outs from somebody, then get them from Rincon and he immediately gets yanked.

And that kind of thing has happened before this year too plenty of times.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Hey...is this a rally?Do it David!

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 How did Castillo hit a double? I had flipped to the football game for that at-bat. Did an outfielder fall down or something?

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 You gotta be fuckin' kidding me!!!
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 That did't even last long enough to be a tease.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Wow. Nice job swinging 2-0 there buddy.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Oh, look. KC's "It" (as in it's happening again) has just knocked on the door to get reacquainted.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Rays fans must be feeling it, too. Down 13-1 to Boston.
Guest mario25 Guests Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Down a ton of runs you have to take that pitch
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Dickshot's kid is in to pitch.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Bobby Parnell for closer!
Guest mario25 Guests Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Anyone who gets 3 outs in an inning should be considered a viable option at this point...Rincon and Parnell just put themselves in the mix....I will ask this Rincon or Feliciano-Schowsus crap???? Parnell or Heilman????
Guest cooby Guests Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 At this point I'd try Leroy Parnell.

What do you want him to do?I believe that Manuel, like WWSB before him, often ovwermanages the lefty/righty matchups and goes through too many pitchers most nights. Still, I have to feel for him when you consider his limited options in the pen. Most any game I can imagine Manuel and Warthen considering their options in the pen.Manuel - "Johan's pitched a hell of a game tonight, but he's up to 112 pitches and I really don't want to wear him out too much tonight. The Braves have a pair of lefties due to open the inning. Who should we send in for the 8th?"Warthen - "Well, you can go with the Show or Feliciano."Manuel - "Great. Show can't get anyone out and Feliciano never gets the first guy he faces. Might as well put Pedro out there while there is no one in scoring position."Feliciano give up a bomb to the first batter. Manuel - "I told you, he never gets the first man he faces. Have Smitty get ready for the righthander."After surviving the 8th without further damage and having burned Smith and Schoeneweis along with Feliciano in the inning, Jerry considers his options for the 9thManuel - "Now what? We're still up a run. All we need is three outs."Warthen - "Stokes is unavailable after the heavy shelling he took in the 8th last night, but we still have lots of options. Heilman, Sanchez, and Ayala are all rested and ready to pitch the 9th.Manuel - "Just shoot me now."

stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 And Gimpy ends the game for the second night in a row. Good thing he's going to be around for another three years!Okay, new plan, 13 game winning streak to wrap up the season.
Guest cooby Guests Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Is it over or is Metfairy being proactive with her POTG?
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Puking. The Nats are close to losing 100 games. This kind of nonsense just can't happen. And I'm talking more about the O than the pen.As for the pen, if the problem is over use .... then lets see the kids and Rincon more. Hell, we still have three roster spots, who is sitting at home after the AAA season ended?
