Hairston homers in the fifth against Sabathia. Reds lead 3-1. Are the Brewers reeling? They need to get it together by TOMORROW or the Phillies will destroy them.

Phils-Marlins (Myers vs. Nolasco) will get underway in a little over a half hour.

I'm all for the Brewers losing again today, I don't know how a win or a loss necessarily affects how they handle Philly so we may as well open up some daylight. having them behind us also makes them our ally if it comes to WildCardness, so lose lose lose I say.

If I didn't have a stake in it, the potential for a seven game series --- with both managers throwing Sabathia and Santana in games 1, 3, and 5 --- would be something.

that would require us catching the cubs though; and i'd rather not have to face sabathia and sheets in a five game series.

As expressed in another thread, unlikely the NL wildcarder, whoever it is, gets much of a chance to set up their first-round rotation the way they want. More reason to root for a pileup.

I agree with that.

If the Brewers lose today and then turn on a dime and sweep the Phillies, then everything is perfect.

So I have mixed feelings. I'm glad they're losing, but I hope they start winning!

Yankees score one in the first in Anaheim. The Angels then match it with a single run in the bottom of the first.

THEN, somehow, the Yankees retroactively tack on another run in the top of the first.

I don't think I'm getting the straight scoop.

In Milwaukee, Reds are still up 3-1, top of the 7th.

And the Marlins-Phillies game is just underway.

The Marlins manage to hit 2 doubles in the first without scoring (frowns).

Milwaukee plates a run in the 7th. 3-2.

I am too busy worrying about the rest of the regular season to worry about how the post season lines up.

Right now my thinking is that the Brewers should bury the Phils . . . I want them nice and hot going into that series. I guess they can lose until that point, but as long as they smack the Phils around I am happy.

]So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell,

LET'S GO FISH!

Myers leads off 3rd with double, then Nolasco strands him by getting Rollins, Werth and Utley.

Nolasco "helps his own cause" as sportscasters are contracted to say, with an rbi single in the third. 3-1 Fish.

And then he hurts his own cause by giving up two runs.

*grrrrrr* ground rule double down the line scores only one run. cause of Fan interference.
dirty philidelphians saving their team a run.

phillies issue two walks to then load bases to bring up our good buddy Paul LaDuca who grounds into inning ending double play.

by the way it seems like the fan got escorted away by police - that's a bit harsh isn't it?

The thing that sucks is the ump blew the call, the guy didn't touch the ball.

The rule of interfering with the game is pretty black and white, it's not harsh
to escort that guy out. I find it maddening that people are stupid enough to
reach over a railing and try to touch a baseball that is in play. If the Phils end
up winning the knucklehead will be on some local radio/tv show. Dick.

in other news yankees are trying to stay alive against fish with 2 on with 2 out in the top of the 9th down by two runs.
