bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I don't want to be presumptuous about the playoffs (Monday's game is still fresh in my mind) or tempt the Baseball Gods, but at some point, Jerry & Omar have to consider the 25-man roster for September 1, when the post-season roster is set (DL'd players being the exception).I will throw out moves that the team will have to consider and some that might happen and am interested in your thoughts:Wagner returns from the DL: send down Kunz.Church returns from the DL: send down Evans.Marlon Anderson returns from the DL: waive him; I think they'd rather have Murphy than Marlon, even though you lose a veteran off the bench for the playoffs in favor of a rookie. Two Orioles have cleared waivers and either or both could be added for the post-season--Kevin Millar (righty) and Aubrey Huff (lefty). Cancel and A. Reyes could be sent down if that happens.

He's going to be disabled for the rest of the month -- as will Trot Nixon -- I suspect.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2008 Author Posted August 15, 2008 All good points: Nixon might be a "gritty veteran with post-season experience" they want on the bench and Marlon did indeed sign a 2-year deal. Thanks for the explanation about the 25-man roster.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I would send down Robinson Cancel as soon as possible (and instead of Evans?)Recent good play notwithstanding, Argenis is in danger when Castillo returns.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I was at that game. Didn't get get a bunt single in the first inning?
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I can't even think about this stuff. I'm gunshy after posting the Mets' magic number last year. Lots of good that did me.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Trot Nixon has started playing rehab games, as has reliever A. Burgos.Later
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I'm guessing we don't see Castillo or Anderson before Sept. 1.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I can't see the point in waiving Anderson. In two weeks, there's room for just about everybody.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Edit: Oops I thought you meant Anderson H. Comment deleted.
