nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Charlie Zink, a 29 year old knuckleballer replacing Tim Wakefield (DL) tonight for the Red Sox, has some early run support- a 10 run 1st inning for the Sox, led by Ortiz's 2 homers in the inning.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Probably not often that a knuckle-baller get replaced by a knuckle-baller
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 All ten runs off Scott Feldman, who's still pitching in the second.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Aaron Heilman pitching now for Boston, as the Rangers score eight in the fifth. 14-10 Patriots.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2008 Author Posted August 12, 2008 its 15-14 texas now in this wild game
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Phillies up 1-0 in the first on an Utley solo homer.Let's go Dodgers.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Did I hear right that Torre is making Manny cut the long hair?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 19-16 Boston, still bottom 8Nothing pennant related, but SFG RHP Tim Lincecum left game in Houston after a liner off his knee.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 An error by Youklis gets the Rangers a chance to rally back.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Brandon Boggs pinch doubles. One out against Papal Bond, tying run at the plate. And his name is......Laird, c.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 MFYs had a 6-3 lead in the 8th but Marte put on two guys and they brought mariano in for a 5-out save, only to see him give up a game-tying 3-run homer to the first batter he faced, Delmon Young.6-6 now going to bottom 9.heh.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 That's Mariano's first blown save of the season - although, oddly, he's been beat around in non-save (but still imporrtant) situations like extra innings and other tie games. Also, assuming that two of those runs were counted against Marte, that's like 9 ER on about 15 baserunners in less than 8 IPs for him since the trade. And he was the good reliever dealt at the deadline.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Dodgers had first and second with no outs in the 6th but could only get one run in.3-2 Philly, end of the 6th.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2008 Author Posted August 12, 2008 4-3 Dodgers is your final!
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 MFY Gay Dame: Geise on his between-starts rest day comes in to relieve Rasner and leaves with a shoulder injury after loading the bases.Minny leading 3-1 but poised for more with abses loaded 0 out in the 6th
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Gameday tells me "on-field delay" after Delmon Young strikes out swinging. That usually means argument/fight/etc. Anyone know what's going on there?
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Clicked over to the ESPN boards, and someone said an umpire took a foul ball off the facemask, causing the delay.Don't know how reliable that source is.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 In any event Twins scored 1 more run to lead 4-1.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Yeah, home plate umpire left the game with a foul-tip related injury of some kind, and they're playing now with 3 umps.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Makes no difference if the MFY lose today or lose every game this season , Hank said next year they will win it all...oh and never before in the long history of the game has a team suffered injuries like his beloved squad has this season....oh and Joba "had become the most dominant starting pitcher in baseball"....STFU Wank.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Well, this year's MFYs lost again to the Twins, 4-2.

It made me throw up in my mouth a little. He really thinks this stuff, doesn't he? Yeek.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Looks like my pep talk to the Twinkies helped a little bit at least. They still lost the season series to the Yanx 4-6 but 2 out of the last 3 helps.Speaking of the Yanx (just caught the highlights of their game) Cano is turning into a real pice o shit.In the first game loss to Minny, he watched the slow bouncer that beat Mariano trickle on by him without a dive or even a lunge. Today he screwed up a possible GiDP by getting too comfy with the neighborhood play and getting neither out. A 3R HR followed. Then, after getting called off on a blooper by Cabrera coming in from CF, he didn't go for it but also did nothing to get out of Melky's way who dropped the ball trying to reach around the stationary Cano. That lazy 'tude, which was barely tolerable when he was hitting .300 with 40 doubles, has got to be killing MFY fans now that his OBA is barely .300
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Imagine the outcry amongst the media if a Mets player ever acted like Cano.....
