Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Courtesy Adam Rubin's blog:* Ryan Church has been cleared to go to Florida to begin playing in minor-league games. Hell initially DH in Port St. Lucie after working out at Shea on Saturday.and there was much rejoicing (yaaaaay}* John Maine threw 61 pitches in a simulated game Friday afternoon."Jerry Manuel said how Maine feels Saturday will be a big indicator of where he is with his mildly strained rotator cuff, but the expectation is Maine starts Wednesday against the Nationals."* Ruddy Lugo will be optioned to AAA New Orleans to make room for Brian Stokes without ever appearing in a game. This puts him in line to join the list of 'phantom Mets' if he never gets a call-back
Guest PiazzaFan411 Guests Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Do they know how long they'll have Church in the minors? On a good note, at least we'll get Maine back fairly quickly. Also surprised that the Mets got rid of Lugo already, I figured they would let him see SOME game time. Guess he's another phantom.EDIT: Any news on Wagner?
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Wagner will be reahabbing in Brooklyn and is expected to be ready when he becomes eligible to play again next Monday.
Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 That dugout isn't going to be big enough once they expand the rosters in September.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Raise your hands if there's an intersection in your town called Church and Main.My hand is up!
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Church has been away for so long that I almost forgot what a tear he was on. Let's hope he can pick up where he left off!

Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Trot Nixon? Damn, totally forgot about that dude.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 How firm are your memories of Brady Clark? And really, what excuse is there to have a guy rehabbing with the Gulf Coast Mets? Is it just because the rookie Gulf Coast League has expanded roster sizes? I was thinking that the idea was to stay at the St. Lucie complex, but play with the kids if the St. Lucie Mets were on the road. But I checked the boxscore, and the Gulf Coast Mets that he played with were the ones on the road. How embarassing is it for a guy with a graying goatee to say, "Well, I got two hits today --- against teenagers"?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Interesting that your designation is Cliff Floyd , noted friend of St. Lucie tourism.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Church played in his first rehab game, going 1-3 in 5 innings as a DH for the Gulf Coast Mets. (Per Adam Rubin's blog.
