Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 rained all night but stopped this morning. Good guys according to the Snooze:Reyes - SSEvans - LFWright - 3BDelgado - 1BBeltran - CFTatis - RFEasley - 2BCastro - CPerez - P
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 This will be the second time for Evans in the 2-hole. He hit there on the Sunday before the All-Star break against Colorado and went 2 for 3.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 first career homer for Evans coming today. I feel it in my core.

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Did Schneider lose his starting status? Castro's in the starting lineup for the third time in the last four games. I hope this is a trend.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Today's start is obvious (day game after night, lefty pitcher). Tuesday's start, against a righty, perhaps not.

HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 ESPN Gametracker has Bruntlett at shortstop. What happened to Rollins?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Bruntlett led off the game, not Rollins -- not sure what the deal is there.Bruntlett - GOUtley - KBurrell - 1BHoward - K

Once Castro started the two games previous to yesterday's game, it was a given that as of today, he would've started three of the last four. So today's start doesn't add anything that we couldn't have assumed after Castro's two consecutive starts earlier this week.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Hard to deal with Beltran not hitting in the first. If not cleanup, why not bat him segundo?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 The Mets reserve the No. 2 slot for guys who can't hit.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Did anyone notice how Delgado has caught up to Beltran statistically and how their numbers are now virtually identical (excluding stolen bases, obviously)?
duan Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 and the fact that Beltran's a pretty damn good centre fielder.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 duan wrote:and the fact that Beltran's a pretty damn good centre fielder.Yeah. That too. I was going for offense, though.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 I suppose we could argue Beltran's been hitting poorly enough recently to qualify for the 2 hole. And he bunts!
duan Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 sure, but if your centre-fielder's hitting as well as your 1st baseman you've got a great asset in the outfield or a liability at 1st!lets be thankful that it's the former rather then the latter at the mo'.

duan Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 it's kinda fun watching this from the pitchers perspective on mlb's gameday. and hoping that he hits pat burrell
duan Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 they seem kinda lifeless though - like that on the tv too?
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 You ever watch from the point of view of the guy buried underneath the umpire?
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Have I not noticed this before or is the Violent Femmes discography a new addition to the Shea in-game library this year?Just now - 'Blister In The Sun', after a homerun (noticed mostly after Delgado shots) 'Gone Daddy Gone'.
duan Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 what I do like is that they've got Moyer up to 50 or so pitches through 3. he rarely gets more then a pitch or 3 past 100 these days. (only one start at 110+ this year)
duan Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 if i was moyer i'd STILL think about pitching around wright to get to delgado.
duan Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 charlie manuel and jamie moyer should listen to me.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Blister in the Sun has been around for years.Gone Daddy Gone is new, I think, for this year's Delgado homers.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Delgado shift-robbed of a line-drive that ordinarily would've gotten through to Rf to drive in a run.
duan Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 we could really use a lefty mashing caddy for Delgado though. Is that what Casey Blake would be?
