Guest Vince Coleman Firecracker Guests Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Pablo Martinez, Pedro's father. This makes me sad. Sorry, Pedro.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3502769Pedro's father lost his battle with brain cancer at 79. Pedro was informed during the game.As one of the brightest personalities on the team and in all of baseball, I can't imagine what Pedro's going through right now.(Merged from RIP Pablo Martinez, 7/25/2008)
Guest cooby Guests Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I can. Here's hoping he takes all the time he needs.(Merged from RIP Pablo Martinez, 7/25/2008)
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I dont wanna start a 3rd Dead Pedro's Dad thread, but I assume this means his weekend start is a no-go. This sets up AAAer Brian Stokes if they choose to go that route, with Ruddy Lugo or Brandon Knight possibilities with extra rest. Vargas and Figueroa would be coming back on too short rest.(Merged from RIP Pablo Martinez, 7/25/2008)
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I'm guessing Knight and Co. have alreay left to train in the Orient for the Olympics .(Merged from RIP Pablo Martinez, 7/25/2008)
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Condolences to Pedro (Merged from RIP Pablo Martinez, 7/25/2008)

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 I really wish this forum offered a "merge threads" feature.(Merged from Condolences to Petey, 7/25/2008)
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 I wasn't sure before if this was true but this thread confirms it.Condolences to the Martinez family.(Merged from Condolences to Petey, 7/25/2008)
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Three threads, folks. We're getting sloppy.(Merged from Condolences to Petey, 7/25/2008)
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 You know, I'm thinking I could probably slap together a merge feature.Maybe I'll do that some day.(Merged from Condolences to Petey, 7/25/2008)
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 that would be awesome.I'd take such editorial license, I'd make Joe McDonald look passive.(Merged from Condolences to Petey, 7/25/2008)
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 My bad. I looked, honestly, but did not see another thread on the subject.(Merged from Condolences to Petey, 7/25/2008)
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 No biggie, Fman. Apparently I did it too on this same subject.I must of been blinded by the Schmidt vs. Bowa spoogefest that is now taking up multiple threads at nearly 100 posts combined.(Merged from Condolences to Petey, 7/25/2008)

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 You can only barely see it in this picture:but David Ortiz had "45" and "RIP" written on his helmet tonight in tribute.
