Pedro's father lost his battle with brain cancer at 79. Pedro was informed during the game.

As one of the brightest personalities on the team and in all of baseball, I can't imagine what Pedro's going through right now.

I dont wanna start a 3rd Dead Pedro's Dad thread, but I assume this means his weekend start is a no-go.

This sets up AAAer Brian Stokes if they choose to go that route, with Ruddy Lugo or Brandon Knight possibilities with extra rest. Vargas and Figueroa would be coming back on too short rest.
