Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I wasn't advocating releasing Castillo and eating his contract. I was wondering whart have the Mets done with him. He was placed on the 15 day DL on July 3rd. I was just wondering what the Mets had done with him. I assumed that he was playing in the minors as part of a rehab assignemnt. It was just odd to me that I had not heard or read anything about him and his progress.Upon Edit: A brief search of the web turned up that Castillo played second base for the GCL Mets on August 1st. He was 0-2 with a walk. It will be interesting what the Mets plans are for him.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 He started playing rehab games a day or two ago - they're talking about a week until ready to return.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I just want to throw out there that, even in his erratic and injury-hampered season, Luis Castillo hasn't been outplayed by Argenis Reyes. Reyes production has been unexpected (as his presence has) but hasn't been enough to play anybody off the roster.OPS+:Easley 91Castillo 88Reyes 85OPS+ as secondbasemen and compared to secondbasemen only:Easley 105Castillo 89Reyes 71
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 So what do you do with Castillo in the offseason? Do you keep him, or do you find a taker and go after Hudson or Ellis in the free agent market?
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 I'll tell ye when the finish line is crossed.
