TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 I voted indifference because that's how I felt 3 days ago.I'm more cautiously optimistic now.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Deciding it was time for a change was perfectly justified.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Overall, IMO, pitching coaches are overrated.I admire the fact that Peterson had a vision and a plan, but his rep was pretty much built by the talent he had in Oakland.I'm not sure Warthen would have had any less success had he been pitching coach for the Mets over the past 5 years.
willpie Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 I went with indifference because I've never been sure how much I think all but the very best pitching coaches matter. I do like his glasses, though. It occurs to me that some lucky team could now hire Peterson and Buck Showalter and start an all jacket-wearing coaching staff. Best if it were someplace really hot and/or humid. Houston, maybe?
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 modest approval, because i felt a change needed to happen and i'm indifferent so far to Wharten
