seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 I hope he does it on his way to right field after hitting a tiebreaking home run in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Worth noting that Delgado's OPS is .701, rather than .685, if you return to him the homer that Bob Davidson took.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 From today's New York Post:The Mets are considering left-handed first baseman Scott Hatteberg, who was designated for assignment Tuesday by the Reds, but the Mariners are considered the leading contender for his services.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Snooze.]RIGHT IN THERE: Carlos Delgado started last night against Dodgers righthander Brad Penny after sitting against Marlins lefthanders Andrew Miller and Scott Olsen the previous two days. Willie Randolph maintained he will not use a straight platoon now, which means Delgado should play tonight against Dodgers southpaw Clayton Kershaw, although the manager wanted to first review tape of the ballyhooed rookie. With Moises Alou and Ryan Church both injured, Randolph knows he needs to get Delgado to return to form, not start platooning him."Let's be real," Randolph said. "With Moises being out and Church being out, we're going to have to find some thump somewhere."Delgado, who went 2-for-4 with a run, didn't sound prepared to accept being platooned anyway."Then we would need to talk," he said.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Willie would never "maintain" he's using a straight platoon, even if he was. It goes against his grain to give the press and his opponent too much information, and he'd always want room for gut decsions.
Guest Vince Coleman Firecracker Guests Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 What does Val Pascucci have to do to get another shot in the majors? For the last 4+ years, he's been absolutely raking at AAA and in Japan. I'd much rather see him as the RH side of a 1B platoon than Easley, and I don't think much would be gained by bringing up Carp before he starts seeing AAA pitching.
Guest mario25 Guests Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I agree give Pascucci a chance..... He also could give the Mets some much needed HR pop off the bench
