TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 KABOOM for Reyes.Let's score some more runs.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 About the only thing Reyes needed that inning was a home run.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 That inning was set up to be so much more than just the two runs. Still, I'm happy the Mets were able to tie it up. Now let's get some runs and take the lead.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Reyes KABOOMs again! He gets the 2 runs back by himself.3-2 Good Guys.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Castillo steals second. Pretty amazing for someone who generally looks like he can barely walk with his gimpy knees. Wright fails to drive him home.

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 that was a decent, though not great, time for a steal.stealing with 2 outs is good, stealing with your best hitter at the plate might not be.the first inning should have been bigger.great to see the two homers from reyes, but based on past experience i want to make sure he doesnt try to put the ball in the air more now
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 way to cough back up the lead pelfrey! walking people and plunking them isnt good.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Pelf looks like his world is falling apart on the mound.3 run double by Gonzo 5-3 Fish.
Guest KC Guests Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 I'm not going to pretend to know how to play center field better than anyonemuch less Beltran, but isn't a more direct route to a ball by extending your-self towards the ball (your arms, etc) and not slide and try to back hand theball with alligator arms?Hard to call that a three run double, but that's what the box will say.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Pelfrey's gotta hold some kind of record for almost getting out of an inning. If not him than Heilman does.Every run tonight is with 2 outs. 2 are unearned. Several have been driven in on broken bats and bloops plus the one that got past Beltran. It's like he gets to the brink but then can't put the final guy away.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 I've officially given up on my dream of Pelfrey being an effective big league starter. If he had the goods, he would be better than he is now. It doesn't help that he can only throw one pitch for strikes.

Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Man, Gary. Man, Ron.Talk about the game a little.
Guest KC Guests Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 And one last thing on the three run non-double ... it's not like the ball was hithard ... try and catch the freakin' thing by diving, show some highlights. I under-stand that on a scorcher you don't want to commit and have the ball roll to the wall, but that wasn't the type of hit it was.I just think it's unfair to slap that on Pelfrey's ass.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Mets are playing like they're disappointed Willie gets to stay.
Guest KC Guests Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Willie ain't playing and Willie ain't allowing fly balls to shallow center turn into three run doubles.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 I'm not sure that's fair, but they certainly seem to have some head-not-in-the-game issues.
Guest KC Guests Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Oh, and Beltran is quoted by the booth that the Willie thing is a distraction to boot.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Talk about sharks circling, Heilman's warming in the pen.
