I hate day games where the team sucks , can't even watch the replay of this shambles.

I'm always torn as to whether or not I should try to ignore the score and watch the game that night not knowing the outcome.

Today I stumbled upon the score unintentionally and now I'm glad I did. Maybe I can get something else done tonight.

Sucky day games really suck when they come in advance of a day off, and particularly when they come in front of a day off followed by a west coast game ... like this one.

That makes it like 2-1/2 days until the next game.

Well, my old adage for putting game like these behind you still applies:
If you're going to hit like crap, pitch like crap, and field like crap, you might as well do them all at the same time so as to ruin only one game.

Reminds me of the early season losses to bad teams that bit us in the ass last September..3 or 4 already.

This West Coast trip frightens me...They have real pitching out there and we dont reallt, uh, like hit much

Marlins are the class of the division right now.

I was there. It was freezing. It was a farce. It was September 30 Lite. It was inane dronery. It was, by the end, quite spacious in every section.

It was frigging 1978 out there today.

It would be some consolation if they had a longer recent track record of pitching, hittin,g or fielding otherwise well.

Well, not that I want to sound like I'm being overly optimistic after a 13-1 clusterfuck, but we are over .500 while both scoring and preventing runs at a better than league average clip ... meaning that our H/P/F can't be all THAT bad.

Not what we'd like them to be maybe but hardly a disaster.

And geez I know Perez was awful today but I just saw the Castillo error and the situation in which it occured and DAMN! that one was a killer.
No telling how differently that game turns out if he makes that play.

I missed the game. Didn't Willie say he would rest Castillo in day games that follow night games?

Only if his still re-habbing knees needed it - but that had nothing to do w/the error.
It was just a plain old-fashion bobble while trying to flip that turned one sure out - and quite possibly an inning-ending two - into none and into the 7 run inning that followed.

Here's some consolation that might've gotten lost in yesterday's drubbing and all the talk about the when will willie go poll and the bad food at Shea:

The Mets are in sole possession of first place in the NL East.

Johan Santana, the notoriously slow starting pitcher who is off to another notoriously slow start according to many, is two strikeouts behind league leader Aaron Harang who has pitched eight innings more than Santana has.

And among pitchers with at least one inning pitched for each game played by his team, Santana is second in the NL in K/BB ratio, 2nd in the NL in WHIP, 2nd in the NL in OBPagainst, 6th in the NL in BattingAverageagainst and 7th in the NL in Runs Created ERA. Of course, I cherry picked a little - Johan is 27th in SLGagainst, for example. But try and cherry pick Mark Bomback into this level of success.

Did I mention that the Mets are in first place?
