Otherwise, Church probably wouldn't have gotten on base and wouldn't have come around to score the Mets second run. So here's an example of how the sac would have cost the Mets one run.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 It takes a diving catch by Werth to keep Wright from getting on base for the 9th straight plate appearence
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Perez gets Howard to fly out wit the tying runs on base to end the 5th. still 2-0 mets. where is everyone?
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Actually Lefty was signed by the Giants, played with them for about a month and got his 4,000 strikeout with them. Also played for the White Sox that year, after Seaver was traded actually!
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Bruntlett works out a 14-pitch walk and that'll end Perez's day. 5 2/3 no runs so far but responsible for the runners on 1st and 2nd with Rollins coming to the plate as a pinch hitter, he'll hit for Jamie Moyer who is also done for the day, and will face Duaner Sanchez.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 on edit: i have to shrink that other one down and change the year.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Utley homers off Shitweis, but the Mets still lead by 3 thanks to the Reyes HR
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 ....that damn Utley smacks one.4-1 us.
Guest Grote15 Guests Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Delgado saves a Wright airmail and no HeilmanYes!
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 The Mets go quietly in the home half of the 8th inning. Hopefully, the Phillies will be kind enough to do the same in the home half of the inning.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Feliciano loads the bases and on comes heilman...
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 The bullpen is "trying" to give this game away. Come on Heilman!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Someone should'a caught that Dobbs pop up.Beltran, waltzing in to get it on a bounce. And Church maybe should'a made that catch down the line.Ill let that one slide--he ran a long way just to touch it.Feliciano walks that other shortstop and looks like its gonna be Heilman to hold em....Bases loaded...
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 OW, .......I think Pagan should have made that catch too, tho it woulda been a real nice grab.RBI soft single for Ruiz.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2008 Author Posted April 19, 2008 Heilman (temporarily) shuts up his critics with a (shoulda been caught) bloop, followed by two straight Ks against the not-inconsequential duo of Jenkins & Werth
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 That inning could have been much worse, but Heilman quiets the Phillies uprising.
Guest Grote15 Guests Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Aaron saves the day....Hey! I always loved him..well..I do like his scowl..I wouldn't steal his Guiness
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 That ball had baaaad intentions.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 As long as it stays in the park....
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Ryan Howard hitting .185? And we're complaining about first basemen?
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 the bullpen provides a heart attack, but wagner shuts the door! 4-2 mets win and we're on a legit winning streak!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2008 Author Posted April 19, 2008 Wagner in 2008: 25 batters, 1 walk, 24 outs.
Guest Grote15 Guests Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Hey Burrell..stick a bat up your ass! Fuck Philly!Great job men...and Aaron you too!
