seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 You know? I really want Phil Hughes to fail. Not as much as I want Joba to fail, but I want him to have a Mike Pelfrey 2007 line this year.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Bill Buckner returned to Fenway to throw out the first pitch. Guess 2 championships and 21 years heal some deep wounds.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Royals win 5-2.Neither Bannister nor Hughes were very sharp. Both threw a ton of pitches and couldn't get past the 3rd (Hughes) and 5th innings. But Hughes deserved even worse then he got as KC left runners on all over the place (inc bags loaded twice) and were on the verge of hanging some real big numbers on him. He'll still probably be a real good pitcher in time with flashes of it now and then this year. But there's definitely a contingent of Yanx fans who simply assume that Hughes was destined to be a front line guy immediately since Jeter, Pettitte, Mariano, Soriano, etc were and they might be in for a dose of reality in this case. Nothing more than normal growing pains actually, but some didn't realize those things apply to them too.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Rodriguez SO four times in this game for only the fourth time in his career , he'll never forgive himself for that.
