Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Well ... he's still the same height he was earlier this year, but he did just sign a 5-year FA deal w/SF
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 The Mets just got a little better.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 The Phillies will find him hard to replace.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Because of this, the Giants have broken off talks with the MFYs over Matsui.

I haven't picked up on what their plan might be for replacing him.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 i would have thought their plan to replace him has become brad lidge
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2007 Author Posted December 13, 2007 I think the idea is slide Shane 'The Flyin Hawaiin' Victorino over to CF as Jayson Werth takes over full-time in RF.Michael Bourne was the identity (see what I did there?) of the other CF candidate but he was the guy who went in the Lidge deal.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Yeah, Burrell/Victorino/Werth is nobody's idea of a bad outfield. They just lose some of the glorious redundancy they had last year. Yeah, they get worse, as I said above, but we're still in a position of rooting for injury or Burrell going into one of his three-month tank jobs.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 I'd be surprised if they really went Victorino/Werth. I mean they could, but I'd think they'd explore other options first. Cameron maybe? Rowand hit 27 HRs and 45 doubles last year -- I'm glad he's out of there.
