]The early response is Sheets/Turnbow for Milledge/Heilman.

in a heartbeat.

My impression of Turnbow is that when he's on he's money. But when he's not, he is downright unwatchable. They usually come in streaks and he is definitely more on than he's not. From a Mets point of view if he were to hit one of those streaks of 6 - 10 appearances in a row where he struggles it could get ugly...especially if Mota and Shoeneweis weren't able to pick up the slack.

A move like this would increase my desire to move Pelfrey to the pen for a year where I think he would be pretty good one inning at a time.

Move over, Duaner. Here's a prime candidate for the Tug McGraw Memorial Goofy Reliever roster spot.

Turnbow is trouble. The Mets can't afford another implosion waiting to happen in the pen. Especially if 140 IP is the most Sheets can give you.

Well, all relievers can be compared to all other relievers, but life is fraught with peril.

I don't want him either, but nobody's risk-free.

Has anybody closed a deal yet?

The Orioles board seems more entranced by the Dodgers, but I did get this reply:

]Bedard would probably cost the Mets Fernando Martinez, Carlos Gomez and Philip Humber (or Mike Pelfrey), or any combination of 3 of those 4 guys.

Or if the Mets didn't want to give up that much in the way of Major League ready players, then perhaps the O's could send Bedard and Daniel Cabrera to the Mets for Fernando Martinez, Humber (or Pelfrey), Deolis Guerra (or Dylan Owen) and John Maine.

The second proposal seems way more outlandish than the first. Cabrera's a nut case.

Any deal closed at TrueBrew.com or AstroPlace.net needs to be put to a vote by the 'Pool to be closed.

I've got one dude into Kelly Shoppach/Cliff Lee for Milledge/Humber, but I think Milledge has been traded like 11 times in this thread alone and we might need him in right/left field. Maybe Shin-Soo Choo can be had.

supposedly, Brewers are thinking about signing kendall and trading estrada.

It's just that he's apparently forgotten how to draw a walk. He had only 12 walks last season, and 13 the year before that. His OBP last year was .296, despite a .278 BA. And he's gonna be 32 next year.

JD (Dbags): Hudson, Montero, Craig Pfautz // Maine, Andy Handy ACCEPTED

MFS (Indians): Shoppach ©, Barfield (2B) // Heilman or Pelfrey

Irish (A's, link isn't working): ???

Edgy (Twins): ???

Monk (Brewers): Sheets (SP), Turnbow (RP) // Milledge, Heilman

Valadius (Orioles): Bedard (SP) // Fernando Martinez, Carlos Gomez, Humber

Seo (Indians again): Shoppach ©, Cliff Lee (SP) // Milledge, Pelfrey

smg (Mariners): Jojima © for ??? (that board has a strange, hard-to-read layout and devolved into Larry Craig jokes, WATP's involving David Wright, and beer and pizza talk).

---

The best one on the table, I think, is Monk's. Sheets would replace John Maine from Dickshot's deal and Turnbow replaces Heilman.

I think we're short an outfielder still and we kind of have two second baseman now.

Is there a consensus of Diamondbackers accepting JD's offer or did he just find a rogue? I thought he was making a counter-offer.

If it's really on the table, we should poll on it.

It's a little late now that we have a 2b and C. But it was a brilliant deal nonetheless.

Well, we can poll on it from the pre-Castrotillo point of view.

I'd hate to yank Lunchbucket's GM of the Year trophy before he even had a place for it on the mantle, but I'd vote no on his Maine for Hudson, Montero deal. Nice to have those guys, but Martinez, El Duque, Perez, and Pelfrey, Sosa, Humber, whoever doesn't look so hot.

And Milledge seems to be offered alot, but with no Green, half an Alou, and the lefty Endy, I think we'll really need Lastings this year.

Yeah, I'd really prefer to keep both Maine and Perez. If we were to add someone like Bedard or Santana, a 1-2-3 of those three in the long term would be really formidable. Then assume that two of Generation K 2.0 (Pelfrey/Humber/Mulvey) pan out, and we've got a sweet rotation, long term.

Endy Chavez for Laird getting a lukewarn reception in Ranger Nation. Yet they want Coco Crisp

They're under the impression Phil Humber is a fair exchange.

Nice plan, but it never works out that way.

I think it's been established that Guillermo Mota would have been a fair exchange for Laird. (Unless someone can make a convincing argument that Laird is considerably better than Estrada.)
