Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 The White Sox FINALLY win a game and spare Jose Contreras his 17th loss of the season when struggling former Met Dan Wheeler blows the game for the Devil Rays.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 The Tigers are pummeling the Dark Empire in Detroit. Mike Mussina lasted only 3 innings and was hammered for 6 earned runs on 9 hits. Sean Casey, one of the slowest players in MLB, just opened the bottom of the fifth inning with a triple. Casey apparently exhausted himself and required a pich runner.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2007 Author Posted August 27, 2007 Currently Tigers 16, MFYs 0 in the 7th.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 This outing - stacked atop all his other recent ones - could cost Mussina his starting slot. Be interesting to see what they do with him. Their main problem is that he's signed for next year as well.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2007 Author Posted August 27, 2007 And 16-0 is the final in Detroit.Verlander and Miner combined for a three-hitter. The only home run in this game was a solo shot by Polanco.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Silver lining for the night. How could the NY tabloids make Yankees look better than the Mets tomorrow?
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 ]How could the NY tabloids make Yankees look better than the Mets tomorrow?Easy. The MFY lost to a vastly superior squad than the Phillies. After all, the Tiggers went to the WS last year, and the Phils haven't sniffed an October for some time. I mean, it's one thing to lose by 16 to the defending AL champs, but by seven to Philadelphia? Well, that something only the Flushing Nine could do.

This could be kind of a creative writing contest.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Each loss is much more costly to the Yankee cause.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Unfortunately John Lackey is throwing a shutout for Los Angeles and Seattle won't gain any ground in the wild card race tonight.
