In Search of... Crash Davis

Castro's got a mild arthritic back. Doesn't sound serious but I do believe it cost him 75% of last year.

Alomar Junior is the best hitter we got out there right now, but Omar sez he might also go looking for Crash Davis.

Recently signed veteran Shawn Wooten put up a decent OBP at AAA earlier this year (for another org.) and is kickin in Bingo style right now with 31-year-old Robinson Cancel (257/294/381).

Mike Nickeas despite a cuteypie Wifey has struggled at Class A (211/278/280); so has Rafael Arroyo (200/333/267).

I think it would be kool, just for kicks, to go way down and call up Teddy Dziuba or LH-hitting Sean McCraw (272/427/377 at Savannah).

I'm kind of hoping they trade for some new dude.

I suppose we could try kidnapping;
- we could kidnap Jesus Flores back from Washington
- we could kidnap Javier Valentin and convince the league that it's Jose back from the DL
- we could kidnap Mark Teixeira and trade him for Jason Saltalamacchia
- we could kidnap mama Molina and see if she's got any other kids to ransom


Or we could pre-emptively trade for Ronny Paulino since [media-cliche]everyone knows Omar has an obsession with him[/media-cliche].

We've got a line open to Mineesota. Maybe they'd be interested in parting with Mike Redmond for future considerations.

Omar Minaya, meanwhile, is cooperating with Dickshot's movement to turn "Crash Davis" into a nominial synonym for "journeyman catcher."

Current crisis aside, we'll almost certainly have to go outside the organization for next year and the near future.

Well at this point (unless there's bad news about Castro that I haven't heard about) they don't need to go with anyone yet.
And if you're going to bring up a guy to essentially sit there in case of emergency it makes sense to bring up the better catch-n-throw guy in DiFelice.

Depending on how things go with Ramon we might see Alomar up in addition to DiFelice and see Newhan increase his already formidable frequent flyer miles.

That's what I meant. It sounded like Omar was saying that they might go outside the organization if Castro has to go on the DL, rather than promote Alomar.
