Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Depending on the severity of LoDuca's hammie, Sandy Alomar, Jr. may have a short stay in New Orleans.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Gary called it --- Met pitchers stink with their tags coming out of their jerseys.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Edgy--if you're home, how are you hearing Gary Cohen? I'm watching on 20 (since mlb.tv and EI are blacked out here with WFAN over mlb audio).
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Carlos, I can do little with your name, but you're beautiful.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Does Green just inspire them to walk both Castro and Milledge?
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Damn. So close, but yet so far. The Mets will need a ninth inning rally to pull this one out.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 With Heilman due up and an injured Beltran the last man on the bench.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 If Beltran is totally unavailable, then Glavine is the best bat left.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 This homestand has not gone very well. This should have been an opportunity to beat up on the have nots of the league, but the Mets have failed to take advantage of the opportunity. The Mets have gone 3-3 against the two teams sporting the worst records in the the NL. The deciding game tomorrow looms large. They really need to win so they can at least hit the road with a winning hometand.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 That's what kills me: they have a winning road trip against SD and LA, then come home and split with Pittsburgh and Washington.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 i misse game 2 today, what the fuck??? 6 innings 3 runs by Pelfrey is what you pray for given what he's done so far in the majors. feliciano picked the nationals to show he's mortal? Glavine got an AB? way to burn your bench willie.

Guest iramets Guests Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Gwreck wrote: Easley and Anderson were used appropriately. What else would you have done re: the bench?I'm not sure I understand why Willie chose to PH Anderson rather than Castro. As the announcing team was raving, it made no sense to burn Anderson, since WIllie HAD to put Castro into the game defensively, and that move left him with no bench at all past the 7th inning. I got tired in the 8th inning so I didn't hear further discussion, but I was frankly disappointed not to read an extensive discussion of this utterly boneheaded manuever here (yes, I heard that Anderson was 3-for-5 or something against that pitcher, but that's a tiny sample size)--instead I read the CPF to learn that WIllie is, as Gwreck says, God, or at least appropriate.I mean, is anyone else here completely disgusted with Willie making moves that are utterly counter-intuitive, so much so that the announcers said IN ADVANCE OF THE AT-BAT that it's a no-brainer to PH Castro instead of Anderson, and then DURING the at-bat admit to being utterly puzzled by Willie's move. "It's a situation he didn't have to be in," Gary says, of the pitcher's spot being filled by a pitcher in the ninth. Here's what Willie said after the game, according to this morning's Daily News: "(Anderson) is a professional pinch-hitter. I'd rather have him in that situation," Randolph said. "If I'd had Castro pinch-hit there, they'd have brought in (setup man Jon Rauch)."Instead of my commenting on Willie's use of his bench, here's what the subway squakers had to say about this brainless move by a stubborn, clueless moronager: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/subwaysquawkers/OE: spelled "intuitive" wrong
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 The point is that the bench situation is also a product of what Omar gave Willie to work with.I'd like him to just DL Beltran already and let him rest and get healthy. I don't know if this will be the second or third time in the past few years (May '06 and May '07, IIRC, but there may have been another, plus the entire freakin 2005 season) that he's been out for several games with a strained muscle but didn't go on the DL and then slumped afterwards because -- you guessed it -- he wasn't completely healthy.I don't really care that Newhan and Johnson can't really hit, I just want them to stop fucking around with Beltran. It's not like we're missing all that much with him out of the lineup anyway!
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Well, by the end, it was also a product of Randolph's work, as he he pinch-hit Anderson over Castro when Castro was going into the game anyhow, because LoDuca was hurt.
