nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 The braves released him, he can play 1B and RF, and i think he's got the pop the Mets bench needs. anyone else interested?
Guest sharpie Guests Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 No. He doesn't play first or the outfield particularly well, he's hitting below the Mendoza line, and he's got that annoying hair.
Guest cooby Guests Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Wow, that's kinda a surprise...I watched him as a Pirate and had him on my fantasy team for a while.Has a nice swing but for some reason just doesn't hit much. A good fielder, and as you say, versatile as well.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 He wouldn't have that pretty hair for long if the Mets signed him.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Complete boom or bust guy as a pinch hitter, seems to do much better in a starting role, but doesn't play enough defense to warrant one.Career PH stats: .213/.325/.565, with 12 HR but only 11 other hits. He is a very reliable hitter against LHP, but we needed that last season, not now.I'll pass.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 I really like the cooby/sharpie diametrical stances. Poor fielder/good fielder. Annoying hair/pretty hair. I think we should schedule a debate.
Guest cooby Guests Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 If sharpie had met Craig Wilson like my sister and I have, he would be more of a fan, too.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Kind of lost in today's thriller was that Franco's 0fer put his numbers in impossible-to-ignore territory. The next roster pinch will be a dangerous time for him to pick up the phone.

But because Julio Franco apparently has naked photos of Willie and Omar in flagrante delicto, I don't see him putting a "for rent" sign in his locker any time soon.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 I always liked Wilson - although his last two seasons don't do much for his resume.Would I prefer him to Franco? Ummm, Yeah.
Guest cooby Guests Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 By the way, I hope you all realize that is not really me and my sister. But I just love that picture
